twitter started charging for api access as well

api on twitter affects regular people less directly

more people used alternative reddit frontends than for twitter and moderation isnt handled by a bunch of volunteers with hacky tools that all need the api

well. These platforms arent "free". Not paying to use them, maybe, but dont twitter, reddit etc all make money off of user data

i guess i understand charging for api might be how they make more money off of user data.. but if activelt charging users to access their own data (like a subrrddit) is ridiculous

Either twitter needs to take full responsibility for whatever i post AND charge people to read em via their api, OR they need to avoid taking responsibility for my public posts and allow anybody to scrape them without breaking tos
