Folks, I don't know how it happened but the idea of books, badges, and materials at Defcon has been mixed up quite a lot.

The only valid idea (which we can reject or accept) is to distribute Monero instead of the typical Bitcoin things, it's a very simple idea.

And there are a lot of good reasons to deny Monero this and other opportunities at Defcon and Blackhat but we (in this channel) have the choice, not other groups.

There is no censorship at all. Like if we decide to vote against it then there will be less Monero in Vegas, that's all.

Nobody should worry, there will be a rich offering of cryptocurrency materials at Defcon. We already have backup plans with Web3 groups and Bitcoin groups, if we decide to postpone, reduce, or cancel the Monero distributions.

And in the absolute worst case, if we decide to completely cancel all Monero branded giveaways, then there will still be the Monero branded merchpacks (same as at Konferenco) available for commercial sale.

Those include hats that several people seem to eagerly want.

So the high anxiety relating to failure at Defcon is not realistic.

If you are still concerned about failure, please no dms but rather event based discussion on #monero-events or CCS based discussion on #monero-community.

Since we're talking about legitimate businesses and not drug dealers, sending to Kraken and auto-converting using their API makes more sense (using some buffer XMR deposited there to account for unlock time and deposit confirmation delay).

using sideshift is too expensive

Kraken has xmr/usd and xmr/euro pairs, so no need to juggle with stablecoins.

If Monero Devices sells fashion items, party tickets, sports entry, or whatever else, it is likely just a favour to a select group. The tickets or other things would not be sold on the main site.
