plowsof: will this be the "final community vote" (TM) on the FCMP proposal? :)
-
gingeropolous
not to fly in randomly and comment on things I don't have a full grasp of, but couldn't a non-retroactive (aka a regular) CCS be made to tidy up the rest of the stuff, and just make the first milestone a big payout?
-
gingeropolous
i mean, whatever the first milestone is couldn't exist with the prior work, so something something

i mean, for better or worse, it would sorta mimic the way i witnessed granting work in biomed academia. a lab (somehow) gets preliminary data, then applies for a grant (using the preliminary data as evidence that the grant will be fruitful), and then they get the grant because the preliminary data is so good

<recanman:agoradesk.com> Someone came with a pretty-much complete monero php library
monero-integrations/monerophp #133.
-
m-relay
<recanman:agoradesk.com> I'm not too sure what to do now, it is mostly complete.
-
m-relay
<recanman:agoradesk.com> This person pretty much did all of the work and all of a sudden submitted it here. I'm not sure if I have done enough to be considered 'maintaining' the library.
-
m-relay
<plowsof:matrix.org> hm
-
m-relay
<recanman:agoradesk.com> The only thing I would be doing is reviewing the code and making any changes, fixing the types and tests, then getting it merged

-
m-relay
<recanman:agoradesk.com> I'm not sure what you mean, but I don't want to claim a payment for a very small amount of work 🙃
-
m-relay
<rbrunner7:monero.social> Monero seems to be a project that somehow leads to people starting to work on something all on their own, not showing up anywhere in the "official" Monero communication channels, not asking any question, just build something, and then one day *bam* suddenly something appears.
-
m-relay
<rbrunner7:monero.social> recanman: Didn't you do already quite some work on the "old" library that is now pretty much obsolete by this "new" library?
-
m-relay
<recanman:agoradesk.com> Yes, I did work on it, but it got obseleted
-
m-relay
<rbrunner7:monero.social> Yes, that's what I mean. We cry because work was wasted, and we rejoice because suddenly and unexpectedly we have a shiny working PHP library.
-
m-relay
<recanman:agoradesk.com> This new library doesn't have any cryptography, so there a major loss of functionality. That should be integrated.
-
m-relay
<plowsof:matrix.org> so, milestone 1 has been obsoleted which you are wanting to take over?
ccs.getmonero.org/proposals/serhack-monero-integrations-part-3.html. If so there will be work to "transfer improvements (if any) from this newer monero-rpc-php over to the main monero-php" ? what about milestone 2? "Monero Woocommerce payment gateway maintenance"
-
m-relay
<recanman:agoradesk.com> There is quite some work to be done, but I originally accepted the length of time of five months for the rewrite
-
m-relay
<recanman:agoradesk.com> I haven't looked into milestone two, but I plan on also taking that over.

-
m-relay
<plowsof:matrix.org> i don't know where the new version has made improvements on (you say it lacks cryptography) - it will still need to be cherry picked and merged over (for milestone 1)
-
m-relay
<recanman:agoradesk.com> I've never worked with wordpress though, so I'm not sure
-
m-relay
<recanman:agoradesk.com> It doesn't look too bad, I'll have to learn a couple of things, all issues seem doable.
-
m-relay
<recanman:agoradesk.com> I'd like to revisit that issue once the first milestone is finished though. But now that I've read over it again, it does seem that there is still some work, just not the same amount planned.

<john_r365:monero.social> anhdres: do you know if the Monerujo implementation is the same as either the Ledger or Trezor implementations? (Which both implement it differently)

The seed offset feature is not based on Ledger or Trezor

<anhdres:matrix.org> I haven't used either ledger nor trezors, only Monerujo so I don't really know
-
m-relay
<john_r365:monero.social> Thanks selsta. Does that mean monerujo use a kind of seed offset "standard" that other wallets can implement? And then ledger and Trezor use their own custom versions
-
selsta
I don't know what Ledger and Trezor use. The way I understand it the passphrase is used as an offset, so seed + offset get you a new seed. New seed - offset = original seed again.
-
selsta
You'd have to look into the source code on how it's exactly implemented but all wallets based on wallet2 support it.
-
m-relay
<john_r365:monero.social> Thanks selsta! I think with Ledger and Trezor it was more related to the way they do key derivation, rather than the passphrase part.
-
m-relay
<john_r365:monero.social> I think I looked at it here:
monero-project/monero #4704
-
m-relay
<john_r365:monero.social> But yeah, anyway, putting those aside, looks like monerujo + feather (for example) will be cross compatible with seed + offsets. Which is great
