<fengzie:monero.social> Hi plowsof: I'm considering open source, do you think we can get the proposal approved?
-
m-relay
<jeffro256:monero.social> open source what?
-
nioCat
-
m-relay
<fengzie:monero.social> also rbrunner7
-
m-relay
<jeffro256:monero.social> Specifically what will you open source? You could open source just the XMR integration with your closed source project, but IMO that is of little community value without open sourcing the thing that you are integrating into
-
m-relay
<fengzie:monero.social> I'm thinking about the desktop app and the node
-
m-relay
<fengzie:monero.social> I also would like to work on Haveno UI as mentioned in the ccs topic with team support. I contact woodser for the application and discussion, and waiting for more feedback from him.
-
m-relay
<nihilist:m.datura.network> either everything is open source or it doesn't belong here imo
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> we've talked about this before
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> and we said we wont pay for integrations into closed source software
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> its one of the very few rules of the CCS
-
m-relay
<fengzie:monero.social> not only integration
-
m-relay
<fengzie:monero.social> but the node for own build and use
-
m-relay
<123bob123:matrix.org> foss it or toss it
-
m-relay
<123bob123:matrix.org> gibbs rule 4. All work must be licensed permissively at all stages of the proposal. There is no time where your work can be licensed under a restrictive license (even as you're working on it). Your proposal will be terminated if this is not remedied.
-
m-relay
<jeffro256:monero.social> As for milestone 4 specifically, I really don't think the CCS will approve crowdfunding for private marketing. Also ~15K USD seems extraordinarily expensive to reach 800 users, does it not? Isn't the cost for advertising about 0.02 US cent per view on Youtube?

<no_2:matrix.org> Apologies if this is a duplicate post.
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> Will multi sig be done before EOFY
-
m-relay
<starlingfarchecker:monero.social> When will they purportedly release said information publicly? 🤔
-
m-relay
<j0j0xmr:monero.social> Wow, looks like Monero Signer is finally making progress.
-
m-relay
<j0j0xmr:monero.social> Good to see after so much stagnation.
-
m-relay
<shadow06:matrix.org> Someone told me a while ago that RandomX was purposely designed for CPU
-
m-relay
<shadow06:matrix.org> 's...
-
m-relay
<shadow06:matrix.org> But it looks like there's software to mine Monero on GPUs. Anyone doing this? Is there a material performance difference?
-
m-relay
<rucknium:monero.social> shadow06: Yes. The performance in watts per hash is much worse on GPU
-
vthor
j0j0xmr, sorry, right now behind schedule, but still positive to catch up util milestone 3.
-
m-relay
<shadow06:matrix.org> Good to know! I just did a cursory search. Anyone mining in CLI on linux?
-
m-relay
<shadow06:matrix.org> looks like XMRig is the ideal one
-
m-relay
<rucknium:monero.social> Look at Gupax
-
m-relay
<rucknium:monero.social> xmrig is faster than monerod's built-in miner. Gupax uses xmrig and p2pool
-
m-relay
<shadow06:matrix.org> oh jeez... I need to RTFM. Disregard lol
-
m-relay
<shortwavesurfer2009:monero.social> I mine with xmrig via cli with screen
-
m-relay
<shortwavesurfer2009:monero.social> Screen -S miner
-
elucidator
It also has daemon capability of you want
-
m-relay
<shortwavesurfer2009:monero.social> ./xmrig options
-
elucidator
How you doing shortwave
-
m-relay
<shortwavesurfer2009:monero.social> Good
-
m-relay
<shortwavesurfer2009:monero.social> Was checkin matrix so saw some new stuff
-
m-relay
<shortwavesurfer2009:monero.social> Still need to submit an issue to goguma to see if they can support znc in future
-
elucidator
You can use soju from the same author as the bouncer. They are very compatible and developed together
-
elucidator
What's the error you get when you try znc with goguma
-
elucidator
I tried goguma with znc today but it didn't like my self signed cert. I'll try with a proper one later.
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> rino is using multisig in production
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> so is haveno
-
m-relay
<shortwavesurfer2009:monero.social> Yeah, it did not appreciate my self-signed certificate either. And I didn't want to bother trying to get one from Let's Encrypt.
-
m-relay
<shortwavesurfer2009:monero.social> Soju is not in apt
-
m-relay
<shortwavesurfer2009:monero.social> And I can't compile a program to save my life. It always fails.
-
elucidator
They are written in go. You'll probably just need to run a "go get
blabla" to install it. After installing golang from apt ofc.
-
elucidator
This is one time you don't need to know how to compile in order to compile it :)
-
m-relay
<j0j0xmr:monero.social> I was referring to the previous dev's stagnation, you're doing a great job.
-
vthor
thank you :)
-
elucidator
@shortwavesurfer2009:monero.social : my guess was correct
-
elucidator
@shortwavesurfer2009:monero.social : there are 3 soju related binaries you need. after installing go with apt you can use these 3 commands to compile all 3 binaries automagically :
-
elucidator
go install git.sr.ht/~emersion/soju/cmd/soju@latest
-
elucidator
go install git.sr.ht/~emersion/soju/cmd/sojuctl@latest
-
elucidator
go install git.sr.ht/~emersion/soju/cmd/sojudb@latest
-
elucidator
after these commands you can find soju binaries in your home directory /home/user/go/bin/
