Is Atomicmonero a phishing site?
reddit.com/r/monerosupport/comments…ill_not_completed_after_48h_despite cc binarybaron incase you've heard of this
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> ive heard of it before
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> it is very shady to say the least
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> they basically do custodial atomic swaps
-
m-relay
<rbrunner7:monero.social> Which is something like a contradiction in itself ...
-
midipoet
having a "trusted" entity conduct swaps on behalf of people that don't want the complexity, isn't that bad an idea though
-
midipoet
not everyone wants to try and navigate the likes of reto/haveno and/or unstoppableswaps
-
midipoet
in theory, you could even ensure that there is no actual custody of funds
-
midipoet
^ the above is not my idea but one that has been mentioned to me
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> haveno is dead simple and involving middlemen can really only make it less secure
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> people sabotage themselves
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> they can use webapps just fine but as soon as you have to download an .exe everyone is suddenly a tech illiterate mega boomer
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> unstoppableswaps with the binarybaron GUI look very simple as well
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> the problem is not the software, its the mindset of the people
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> we should not accomodate that by wrapping decentralized p2p tech in centralization that serves no purpose other than to coddle users
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> Trust me bruh
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> I have lollies
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> that being said, if you need a trusted proxy for haveno, let me know, ill do it for 5%, 0.05 XMR minimum ;:DD
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> Same, if you want to swap some xmr in/out of ltc or btc, i can middle man your atomic swap for an extra 3-5%, depending on my mood
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> basicswapdex electron app + installer when ?
-
nioc
what are ltc and btc?
-
m-relay
<aswiftverdict:matrix.org> I’m guessing litecoin and bitcoin
-
nioc
sorry /s
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> "next question" :P
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> lol
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> On subject of installer, i started work on (and flipped the table) for a deb, since it's essentially the same shit has the bash install
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> except you cant add your custom node, setup tor, or restore from seed
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> And (afaict) requires touching root folders
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Re electron: particl's desktop wallet and marketplace is an electron app, so might be possible but not direction were working on
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> making "start menu" launchers is a simple task, so users wont have to launch basicswap using the terminal.
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> i didnt look into appimages (even monero-gui's appimage isnt a real appimage lol, its just a bash script to run monero-wallet-gui LOL)
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Maybe in should just rename "basicswap-bash" to "basicswap.AppImage" and make ppl happy? 😂
-

monerobull: for a large portion of the population, the mindset remains that a "trusted" middle man is a more secure way to transact. It's also the only way some entities can interact, given legal requirements, policies, processes, etc and so on. If you don't believe this, that's fine, but then you are dismissing the evidence in front of you. Centralised services have been the biggest winners, and are the most powerful
-
midipoet
stakeholders in the entire DLT ecosystem. An ecosystem that was "supposedly" built on the embedded ethos of "decentralisation". The reason why centralised entities have become the dominant player is because "the market" demanded it, whether or not it's rational - and so, unfortunately, it materialised.

<monerobull:matrix.org> AAVE makes 60-80% of all lending revenue
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> AAVE makes 60-80% of all crypto lending revenue
-
midipoet
And that's great for AAVE. I am sure Uniswap are also doing great business too, but either example doesn't discount the point I made.

m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> @nioc ltc is a coin that ppl buy on cex and use it to buy xmr
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Btc is a coin that ppl born in the 1940s need to trade in so they can buy groceries
-
nioc
we need atomic swaps between monello and fiat
-
nioc
paper fiat
-
nioc
or in dan bob's case plastic
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> need native cbdc
-
nioc
cbpc
-
midipoet
stablecoins are defacto cbdcs anyway, so we are all sorted for the dystopian future we dreamt of
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Are there any stablecoins that are their own blockhains?
-
midipoet
There was a new one mentioned
-
midipoet
Called Stablechain
-
midipoet
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> this one is more dystopian than actual CBDCs
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> id stay the fuck away
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> there is also one where aaves GHO stablecoin is used as native gas, that one seems a bit better
-
m-relay
<hbs:matrix.org> xDAI is the native currency of GnosisChain
