syntheticbird should i actually read the wall of text at chaosclub or assume 17lifers is going around promoting illegal activities (botnets, gaining access to resources that do not belong to you)

<taha0040:matrix.org> Hi
-
m-relay
<taha0040:matrix.org> I transferred a number of Monero (XMR) coins from the MEXC exchange to my Atomic Wallet.
-
m-relay
<taha0040:matrix.org> All transaction details and addresses are correct and match on both ends.
-
m-relay
<taha0040:matrix.org> However, the Monero has not arrived in my Atomic Wallet yet.
-
m-relay
<taha0040:matrix.org> I have contacted both MEXC and Atomic Wallet support several times, but so far, there has been no resolution.
-
m-relay
<taha0040:matrix.org> Could you please advise what steps I should take to resolve this issue?
-
m-relay
<taha0040:matrix.org> Thank you in advance.
-
m-relay
<ct:xmr.mx> First: do not spam rooms, especially not the purpose specific ones (-dev, website etc)
-
m-relay
<ct:xmr.mx> Neither service is a community project, and we are not responsible for their subpar customer service
-
m-relay
<ct:xmr.mx> If I would have to guess: mexc is a scammy exchange and known for delaying xmr withdrawls
-
m-relay
<ct:xmr.mx> please consider using a proper open source wallet (GUI, cake, stack, monerujo) next time, that makes it easy to identify the poorly behaving party
-
m-relay
<ct:xmr.mx> I would suggest you keep bothering mexc Taha

"Your XMR address will deactivate automatically if you haven't used it for 30 days"

<rbrunner7:monero.social> Cool feature, I propose that for our wallets as well :)

<anhdres:matrix.org> That definitely sounds like McAfee
-
m-relay
<taha0040:matrix.org> Ok
-
m-relay
<taha0040:matrix.org> I have messaged MEXC multiple times.
-
m-relay
<taha0040:matrix.org> I’ve spoken with several of their support agents.
-
m-relay
<taha0040:matrix.org> They even created a report and told me that the Monero was sent to the exact address I provided.
-
m-relay
<taha0040:matrix.org> Thank you, friends, for your responses ❤️
-
m-relay
<ct:xmr.mx> Do you have a seed of your atomic wallet? If yes, restore the wallet in eg. cake wallet
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> I thought mid-sentence that you were gonna say "If yes, please send it to me"
-
m-relay
<taha0040:matrix.org> Ok . Tnx ❤️

4rkal this is your third ccs proposal
repo.getmonero.org/monero-project/c…r_username=4rkal&first_page_size=20 i suppose its a good time to learn about
github.com/monero-project/meta/issues , ill update the agenda with all ideas
-
m-relay
<4rkal:monero.social> Cool thanks
-
m-relay
<sgp_:monero.social> Personally, I think a paid product like MoneroNodo is more sustainable for this use-case. After this CCS is completed, will the OS be abandoned again?
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> maybe even selling usb sticks pre-loaded with this
-
m-relay
<sgp_:monero.social> Yeah, some other way like that to raise money and make it sustainable
-
m-relay
<sgp_:monero.social> I'm skeptical there's money in that though unfortunately
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> maybe not good money, but perhaps low barrier to get started (just need to buy a handful of usb sticks, or only buy when someone orders one)
-
plowsof
". Now think how much time you would have to waste if you were to setup a whole mining farm." surely there are better solutions for this use case?
-
plowsof
networked machines - and we're plugging a USB into each of them on our farm? i feel leaning toward plugging a usb into each machine is a step side-ways / backwards - to then only mine 1 RandomX coin at the end? and then when there's an update we need to apply to these _networked_ machines?
-
plowsof
and this is a years old idea
-
m-relay
<17lifers:matrix.org> check updates on boot, update persistent partition on usb
-
plowsof
call home on boot
-
plowsof
D:
-
plowsof
we mine 24/7 - restart = profits lost
-
plowsof
i think the use case needs to be more tightly defined for me to grasp it
-
m-relay
<17lifers:matrix.org> surely a lil 5min downtime cant hurt hashrate that much lmfao
-
plowsof
the mining farm isnt defined so thats half the global hash offline for 5 minutes :-o perhaps 0.6 xmr when we're at 100kusd
-
m-relay
<17lifers:matrix.org> i mean... dont really have to update until randomxv2... xmrig 5.0 still works since it has randomx
-
m-relay
<17lifers:matrix.org> lol
-
plowsof
theres a p2pool update every hour
-
nioc
100k? The fluid in my brain jar just overflowed
-
m-relay
<17lifers:matrix.org> xmr at 100k yes
-
m-relay
<17lifers:matrix.org> when will tht happen
-
m-relay
<17lifers:matrix.org> ;-;
-
plowsof
thats how Hetzner configures its mining farm, every employee has a cupboard full of usb sticks with each OS version
-
ruidx
more miners -> more holders == less selling pressure -> higher price
-
plowsof
is a mining farm use case not absurd?
-
m-relay
<17lifers:matrix.org> hmm yes home datacenter smth that will not be noticed by neighbours and the electricity provider wont say anything about surely
-
plowsof
plug usb into compooter, plug monitor into compooter, open da pretty web gui
-
plowsof
move on to the next one , and so on.. when theres an update, do it again
-
plowsof
this is the future
-
plowsof
solar mining farms with monerOS are going to account for over 51% of the hashes if this takes off , also a concern
-
m-relay
<17lifers:matrix.org> rip global electricity network
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> Proof of Space is better anyway
-
m-relay
<17lifers:matrix.org> thats a POS
-
m-relay
<4rkal:monero.social> I came up with the mining "farm" idea based on something I tried myself. A while back I tried to get ~6 laptops to mine XMR. The whole setup took a lot more time than it should have. Since I had to install a Linux OS on each machine, wait for it to install, download xmrig etc etc. I made it for myself and then tried to turn it into a project. Plugging in a USB with everything you <clipped message>
-
m-relay
<4rkal:monero.social> need already configured and all you have to do is copy paste your xmrig/p2pool config files is super neat.
-
m-relay
<4rkal:monero.social> However it obviously doesn't only apply to mining farms. Anyone can use it on just a single machine. It can also act as a layer of separation between your personal stuff and mining. Imagine just (re)booting into the USB at night when you want to mine.
-
m-relay
<4rkal:monero.social> Thanks for the laughs tho plow
-
m-relay
<4rkal:monero.social> Btw
-
m-relay
<4rkal:monero.social> About updates you can have a literal cronjob check for updates on the xmrig repo, download & extract to persistent and then restart the service to use the new binary.
-
m-relay
<plowsof:matrix.org> yes call home for the privacy minded folks
-
m-relay
<plowsof:matrix.org> lets get the use cases more tightly defined then
-
m-relay
<plowsof:matrix.org> 6 laptops use case : hm
-
m-relay
<17lifers:matrix.org> oh noo downloading a simple current_version.txt violates privacy so much
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> YES IT DOES

-
m-relay
<4rkal:monero.social> Could be configured by the user
-
m-relay
<plowsof:matrix.org> are there any technologies in existence that can keep track of files in remote (but local networked) directory? maybe only one machine has to actually download something. thats alot of bandwidth for undefined farm

-

<plowsof:matrix.org> wow
