<thormme:matrix.org> Has anyone had success with monero multisig wallets?I'm trying to set one up. I made a 2:2 multisig testnet wallet, added some funds to it and waited for them to confirm.Initially the full amount appeared in both, but one of the wallets lost the amount, and I had to add it back with scan_tx.Has anyone else experienced this?

<thormme:matrix.org> Also, does anyone know if mms still works and is supported? I got mixed messages searching about it

<thormme:matrix.org> Let me know if there is a better chat to ask in

<rbrunner7> @thormme:matrix.org: No, the MMS does not work properly anymore with the latest Monero multisig code. We rececently decided to remove it from the codebase at the next good opportunity that presents itself. You will also have a hard time finding a PyBitmessage version that works together with it.

<rbrunner7> If you are interested in Monero multisig, you could maybe help to betatest this, it looks quite promising to me:

<rbrunner7> (The lack of visible interest in that Reddit post probably shows how "niche" Monero multisig currently is. I know how you can feel as an author of an app that is greeted by a collective yawn ...)

<thormme:matrix.org> @rbrunner7: Oh heck yeah!! I was hacking away at the official Monero GUI trying to get out working, but not having to would be incredible
-
br-m
<rbrunner7> "Hacking away" meaning code up something, a multisig extension of sorts? If yes, interesting.
-
br-m
<thormme:matrix.org> Yeah, that exactly, I found some 5 year old merge requests that I was updating, but they didn't have any transport layer, I'll definitely take a look at that project.
-
br-m
<thormme:matrix.org> An ideal solution would be mainlining something into the official gui so multisig can get some needed love
-
br-m
<rbrunner7> I agree. In a perfect world, IMHO, there would be "official" support for multisig in the GUI wallet app which is, being part of the Monero project proper, something like "official". But well, it's complicated. There is a clearly superior multisig technology waiting in the form of Rust code written to use it in Serai, and a sen [... too long, see

<rbrunner7> That's why the Monero dev tobtoht_ of FeatherWallet fame paused work on something that you could call an MMS successor until that new multisig technology is mature enough to incorporate and use.

<freigeist-m:matrix.org> Think of the average Swedish, German, Swiss or English person. Meet any good standing middle class person from this countries and they would instantly find horrendous the idea of “tax evasion”. In their minds it is a duty to pay taxes, and “rich people” hiding money away in Switzerland is a character flaw. In their min [... too long, see

<monerobull:matrix.org> Swiss Banking is not even all that private anymore
-
br-m
<thormme:matrix.org> I've had conversations with people who were very skeptical about Monero. I convinced them that privacy was okay by comparing it to cash. Comparing it to swiss bank accounts would make it seem more sketchy, not less. The cash comparison is compelling to many people.

youtu.be/9B6c9CSgFC0?t=153 maybe we can win them over by mentioning the fact that they are still allowed to work in their free time if they want to. So having to pay less for the social security & pension ponzi + taxes is not all that bad. They can still work
-
br-m
<freigeist-m:matrix.org> Yes. How? Simple answer from me is I’m not sure. I know we could spend some good hours talking about this… > <@spirobel:kernal.eu> do you think there is any way we can win them over?
-

<freigeist-m:matrix.org> Right now I speculate that “monero awareness” is only growing through word of mouth from savvy person to savvy person. So, still a long way until I can pay for McDonald's with monero

<freigeist-m:matrix.org> How cool would that be right? hahaha
-
br-m
<thormme:matrix.org> @freigeist-m:matrix.org: It would be very cool. I think tax reform will be necessary before we get to that point though. Making individuals track every purchase and declare it on their tax return is just too much of a barrier

<thormme:matrix.org> @freigeist-m:matrix.org Thank you so much for your work on the multisig gui! It is such serendipitous timing as I started looking for a solution like that only a week ago.

<thormme:matrix.org> @freigeist-m:matrix.org: I was watching your video and I like how the clients automatically exchange partial keys. What would happen if you had a 2/N wallet, user_1 and user_2 exchanged partial keys and spent some monero, then went offline. Later user_3 and user_4 come online and attempt to spend, would there be a sync issue, since 1/2 are offline?
-
br-m
<freigeist-m:matrix.org> @thormme:matrix.org: Short answer is there would not be a sync issue. You could have those two pairs of wallets coming online in turns, never importing the multisig info from the other two, and the balances would be displayed correctly ("Import needed" updating to "No") , and also spending funds in tuns by each of the two [... too long, see

<thormme:matrix.org> I couldn't find too much on the security implications of the hidden services. It is the case that only onion nodes that have been added to your client will be able to interact with your client's service? Or is there some other form of authentication?
-
br-m
<freigeist-m:matrix.org> @thormme:matrix.org: Yes, there is authentication for every request. How it works is each wallet only accepts requests from onion identities that are part of the peer set. And we verify that the request is legit from that onion identity because it is signed by the private/pub key combination of that onion identity. And we [... too long, see
