<syntheticbird:monero.social> skill issue from my side ngl I first misunderstood cmake flags and thought the `release-static` target disappeared, which is not the case actually... ? So I just used `cmake` and set the according flag but HEY GUESS WHAT? LIBUNWIND ISNT COMPILED AS PIE. WELCOME TO UBUNTU CI.
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> As for Guix yeah i don't know
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> no need to ping tobtoht, i'll open an issue accordingly with the logs
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> it didn't failed at monerod compilation but at one dependency
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> i'll make a fresh container and test again
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> Im going crazy, someone dare explain me why libunwind is marked as optional despite being hard dependency????????
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> ok nevermind it was an option in cmake again
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> Tob is guix guy, the whole integration is his baby
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> C build system and dependency is really delicious. No shit I only hear good about it
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> as you can see in the last 6 messages i'm very reliable when it comes to identifying compilation issues
-
m-relay
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> Ubuntu 24.04, fresh monero, readme dependencies installed except libunwind-dev, `make release-static` => undefined reference in libunbound
-
m-relay
<aremor:matrix.org> I usually have to install libunwound and expat from source.
-
m-relay
<aremor:matrix.org> v1.19 I think
-
m-relay
<aremor:matrix.org> Although I know that’s with release-v0.18 though
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> I have a bunch of peers with different heights 🥲
-

<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> All of my anon peers: 3358618. My clearnet peers: 7099, 7053, 8072, 6613, 8611, 8604

<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Cc boog900 - i'm running master w/ blocklist on
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> full disclaimer: internet was disconnected for 12hrs on thursday, and node fell behind. i noticed it was struggling to sync so i popped 1000 blocks and walked away (this was a couple days ago). Just checked a few mins ago, and noticed that my peers are cooked
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Looks like a lot of my peers are reporting block height = 1
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> I just connected to a few of them and they are saying they are fully synced
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Running release binary or master?
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> this is what simple mode users would do, right?
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Yeah.
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> A custom script using cuprates p2p stack
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> :D i was wondering because maybe related to some unreleased code
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> :/ release binary seems to work. Uh oh
-
m-relay
-
m-relay
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> is master not syncing?
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Nvm, neither is syncing
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Master was showing wrong block heights for my peers
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> can I see logs
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Sure, what lvl do you want
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> just 1 for now
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Its failing to ownload the next batch now ... so i'm waiting for it to succeed to download it
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> (this is release binary now btw)
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> is there an `m` at the start of the moooo if you run `sync_info`
-
m-relay
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> yes
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> but it gets dropped
-
m-relay

<boog900:monero.social> whats the time on your PC/server? is it up to date?
-
m-relay
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Looks like its 10mins off 🧐
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> 347 gmt
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> if your logs are UTC you are ~12 hours behind
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> so the wrong 3:47 (4:02 now) :p

m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Lets try this again, just fixed my time
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> lol thanks. I think i know what happened. (didnt pay my bill and they suapended my vps for a few hrs)
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Its syncing again
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> Nice 🚀
-
m-relay
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Would that also explain any of these blockheights?
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> (this is old screenshot from before restarting monerod)
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> Yeah certain messages are ignored while syncing, those nodes were behind your node so there wasn't any requests for blocks going to them.
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> Which means your node never updated their height
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> Very hand wavy I am not 100% but it probably was something like that
-
m-relay
<blood_evo:matrix.org> i have a leak

einliterflasche
hey there
-
einliterflasche
I'm trying to build an FFI wrapper around libwallet2_api. But the outputs (libwallet.a, libwallet_api.a) which I am linking against, seem to be missing a lot of symbols. I've uploaded a part here:
pastebin.com/K3JLVYW8.
-
einliterflasche
Does anyone here know what I'm doing wrong? I don't think it's (just) missing linked external dependencies. at least some of the missing symbols seem to be monero ones rather than external dependencies
-
m-relay
<tobtoht:monero.social> einliterflasche: how did you build libwallet?
-
einliterflasche
using cmake.
-
einliterflasche
`mkdir -p build/libwallet; cd build/libwallet; cmake ../..; make -j${nproc} wallet_api`

einliterflasche: and what's the calling code? (trying to find those symbols) einliterflasche
-

i'm using cxx (
cxx.rs) to generate the bindings
