bilbo79[m]Hi,
-
bilbo79[m]Im having a little trouble updating my monero-gui wallet? I am mostly familiar with Macs, newly switched to Ubuntu. I had the previous version of the monero-gui wallet working fine on Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS. Then i tried to update wallet to 17.3.2 and ended up with both versions (old and new) on my desktop. How do i uninstall the monero-gui wallet, so I can reinstall it fresh? I can't find it with Synaptic? Any help appreciated.

moneromoooRemove the tree you put it in. In case you put your wallet(s) there too, move them away first.
-
selstabilbo79[m]: how did you install it in the first place? download from getmonero.org or flatpak / package manager?
-
selstaif you downloaded it from getmonero you can just delete the old version

selstaso this person claims that their hash is e3b0c44298fclcl49afbf4c8996fb92427ae41e4649b934ca495991b7852b855
-
selstabut I can find this exact hash on google from a document 2015
-
selstaso unless there is a sha256 collision...
-
selstathis person is trolling
-
selstaok, that's the sha256 of an empty file
-
plowsof[m]I bet they're in the wrong dir >_<
-
selstabut then `shasum` should theoretically complain

bilbo79[m]<moneromooo> "Remove the tree you put it in..." <- Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, I'm not too handy at the command line yet.
-
bilbo79[m]<selsta> "bilbo79: how did you install..." <- I installed the Monero-GUI wallet from getmonero.org. It worked very well, until I attempted to update it. Thanks for your response.

selstabut there is no install process involved
-
