You have to turn it on. I don't use the GUI so I am not familiar with how it works for mining. Almost everybody who mines uses xmrig which is significantly faster

Unless you have very cheap or free electricity I wouldn't consider mining

if you use xmrig you don't need the node running

there is gupax.io which is an easy mining setup, has xmrig and p2pool and uses a GUI

people say that it is relatively easy to use

it's own GUI to setup and control the mining

either you or the pool that you are mining to needs to find a block before you get paid

need better computer, you will not be able to pay for a better comp by mining profits

unless you pay very little for elec and then it takes a long time
