Banned ips are on logs
-
DataHoarder
and they are temporary, 10 minutes

hyc
imagine a bunch of ryzen cores with HBM on-chip

-
hyc
30x increase in energy efficiency
-
sech1
they're going to stack HBM right on top of GPU chiplets? Wow
-
hyc
yeah, those interposers must have heat pipes integrated or something
-
sech1
if anything, these chips will destroy ETH mining
-
hyc
there won't be any more ETH mining by 2025... will there?
-
DataHoarder
we will see six months before 2025
-
sech1
According to ETH devs, there shoudln't have been any ETH mining since... 2017?
-
DataHoarder
it's always six months away :)
-
hyc
it's almost like controlled fusion and quantum computing
-
pauliouk
well once someone builds a quantum computer with enough layers, and someone works out how to work the SHA256 hash with it... its the end of BTC as we know it :)
-
DataHoarder
nah
-
pauliouk
Imagine leasing 1 hour of quantum computer time, and using it to smash wallets
-
gingeropolous
mmmmm i love seeing monero asic development outsourced
-
QuickBASIC
Can't FPGAs do 3x a normal CPU for Monero, what's the cost compared to 3 CPUs that do the same hashrate though?
-
pauliouk
I thought FPGAs didn't have the memory speed for effective RandomX
-
DataHoarder
if you get 3x cost wise you have a good cpu model
-
selsta
QuickBASIC: source for 3x?
-
selsta
afaik sech1 knowns about one FPGA that could be used for RandomX but it's not cost efficient
-
QuickBASIC
selsta probably random article I am mis-remembering.
-
selsta
maybe this was pre randomx?
-
QuickBASIC
Could be.
-
abberant[m]
umm
-
-
DataHoarder
Side chain hashrate = 694.085 KH/s
-
DataHoarder
seems you are on your own
-
abberant[m]
why is my sidechain hashrate so low? and no incoming when I have ports forwarded
-
DataHoarder
got banned from all peers?
-
abberant[m]
kd;lakfjksd;lfj;alskdjf
-
DataHoarder
really, you have something wrong somewhere on your firewall, maybe connection tracking
-
DataHoarder
remember connections get established on random ports outgoing
-
DataHoarder
so allow all outgoing
-
abberant[m]
going to just disable ufw and see what happens
-
DataHoarder
> Connections = 8 (0 incoming)
-
abberant[m]
yesterday I had some incoming
-
DataHoarder
restart p2pool after 10 minutes or so
-
abberant[m]
yeah 🙄
-
abberant[m]
I notice if I restart p2pool without waiting 10 minutes it usually shows sidechain hashrate of being just mine, I would assume that when I close it I get banned for disconnecting or something similar. I also get chain reorg messages when I open it early so that must be because I'm being banned from nodes.
-
abberant[m]
I also wanted to ask if p2pool node ips get banned or is it from monerod? I have lots of friends that hook up their p2pools to my node, maybe they're getting me banned for frequently opening and closing because they're gamers
-
abberant[m]
and if my friends open p2pool while my node may be banned, the startup gets messed up because theres no connections and it gives warnings about chain reorgs and ends up with sidechain hashrate saying its just them, they might continue to send bad data because of p2pool being in this state and getting everyone on my node banned
-
abberant[m]
just a theory, I'm not sure how this works so I'm asking ofc
-
hyc
the sidechain is running at 1 block every 30 seconds. if you're offline for 10 minutes you'll be completely out of sync and it needs to catch up again
-
hyc
nothing you mine during catch up will be valid
-
abberant[m]
My node ip being banned by others though, and 5/6 people on my node arnt finding shares after 5000% combined effort
-
abberant[m]
* node ip is being banned
-
hyc
no idea why that would be. i guessi f you have flaky connectivity and are frequently dropping connections from your monerod to other peers it could happen
-
abberant[m]
yeah I've been looking into it for the past few days its really annoying :( it has cpu headroom and everyone has 5ms ping now
-
abberant[m]
it didn't have headroom till recently though and if I wait 10 minutes between opening p2pool I can join that 1 other friend in being able to find shares, no clue if I'm still being banned by others
-
abberant[m]
I would assume that the other 4 people are maybe facing issues when opening it like I was after restarting and opening it again before my ban that I assume is caused by stuff breaking when I exit the node, but I'm still trying to get info from them
-
abberant[m]
are bans only applied to p2pool node? or does it have anything to do with monerod if anyone knows
-
abberant[m]
I would assume only p2pool but if my daemon could be affected it would explain so many others having issues including me and the one other friend at times, but that could also be explained by "no cpu headroom", but other processes like game servers ran flawlessly in that scenario so its possibly unrelated
-
abberant[m]
I don't see my friends node IP's in my logs though which would be the case if they're banned, but they are in the peer list
-
abberant[m]
* which would probably be the
-
abberant[m]
* which would probably be the, * if they're being banned, but

EDad
Can a pi 3b host monerod for other machines to mine without lagging?
-
hyc
no idea. I think if it's hooked up to a decent SSD it may be ok, but I'd still choose a pine64 instead, to be sure
-
EDad
Honest answer. I want to get monerod off my biggest miner so I can let xmrig have all the cores.
-
hyc
right now I have monerod and p2pool running on a rockpro64
-
hyc
works with no sweat
