Different trade offs. We use pools of anonymity with sliding windows. Verification time is slow but mitigated hugely by batching techniques. As we use pools of anonymity, as long as you're in same pool you get batching benefits. If you're drawing from several pools then we have multi core optimizations where each thread will process each pool.

binaryFate: If there are no shared mods, actions on IRC won't effect matrix and the other way round too. Ideally every Monero IRC room has also a mod on Matrix. Some settings would be also synchronized (like the description of the channel, which is different in the two rooms)

If preferred somebody else with powers on IRC can make a matrix account and i can give them powers on matrix

One thing that drew me to monero is the culture of extremely smart, active community members taking the time to answer a question - even if it turns out it was stupid. (Not present for many other cryptos).

I know there are other channels, but a name like "AskMoneroResearch" would speak to me. A place for normal people to ask smart people questions. The name "Lounge" doesn't communicate that to me, personally (but might be exactly that).

If you increase moderation in MRL (completely understandable) please do so in a welcoming way (as I have usually seen here).

selsta hyc I think that lounge is a serviceable name. And I think that welcoming moderation would guide me there. e.g. "great question. please repost in lounge. I'll answer there."

Speaking as an average person, judging solely on name, "lab" is like a flame that attracts me, "lounge" does not. But if I had seen "AskMoneroResearchLab", I would intuitively have known that is where I should go. (In fact, I would have preferred to go there).

I don't ask work questions in a lounge at work (rude). I let people relax. I ask them where they work (possibly rude, but less so).

Also, rooms can be dead. To discourage people from cross posting to get attention, a bot in such a room that acknowledges them and sets expections would help "hey new guy, we hear you! you are in the right place, but sometimes it takes hours for someone to reply. Please do not cross post / repost today. Thank you" (and actual users also acknowledging them would help).
