br-m<ack-j:matrix.org> Mordinals v2?
-
br-m<ack-j:matrix.org> xmr20.org
-
br-m<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Theres a bunch of ppl injecting stuff into txextra already
-
br-m<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Some dns service, eigenwallet
-
br-m<jpk68:matrix.org> Why wasn't tx_extra removed? I thought almost everyone was against it?
-
br-m<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> No
-
br-m<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> And yes
-
br-m<rucknium> You may read the 100+ comment github issue about it.
-
br-m<rucknium> TL;DR: It is possible to embed arbitrary data in other parts of the tx even if tx_extra were to be removed.
-
moneromoooIt's the good old freedom/authoritarian divide. It's useful but dangerous, should it be allowed ?
-
moneromoooIn practice, turns out nobody really made good use of it :/
-
br-m<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> It was limited to 1060 bytes in the interim, would need a hard fork to remove fully, iirc. But people lobbied to keep at least 250-something bytes, and carrot uses it now, so iirc the tldr is that its 1060 at the hard fork
-
sech11060 + 32*number of outputs
-
sech1Carrot puts additional pubkeys (one per output) into tx_extra
-
br-m<ack-j:matrix.org> At least it doesnt seem like they are storing actual data on chain this time
-
br-m<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> eigenwallet and the domains are
-
br-m<sgp_> @jpk68:matrix.org: because removing it is a bad idea
-
br-m<sgp_> removing it, despite popular belief, does not prevent people storing arbitrary data
