This idea that “the US dollar is used
-
garth
By criminals” feels a bit more polemical than needed
-
garth
IMHO this entire question feels like a losing cause
-
garth
Let’s just not include it
-
ErCiccione
If people don't want it just let me know and i'll close it. I spent enough time on that PR

CCS part of getmonero.org is down?
-
t-900-a
Seems to be

Hammermann[m]
Hey guys. I wanted to know if there's a way to contribute to the websites's UI and UX. It looks pretty out dated and doesn't provide a very pleasant user experience either which, for a known project like Monero is kinda a shame
-
Hammermann[m]
I've been working on a concept for Monero's website as an example of how it can be improved both visually and structurally. It's a work in progress but you can see some samples here

Hammermann: the website is open source and can be improved as much as we want. While i agree the current design is less then optimal (and was very much broken until not long ago), we have to keep in consideration the goal of minimalism plus ease of use.
-
ErCiccione
Personally i'm open to discuss a redesign, the best way to start would be to open an issue on the repository and explain very well what you have in mind, keeping in consideration that the website must be javascript-free
-
carrington[m]
These images are causing element to crash on my device, so a gitlab issue might be a better venue
-
Hammermann[m]
Sure. I had both in mind when I started designing the whole thing. I guess I'll have to finish it and ask for opinions in the community and people liked it I might open an issue and explain the details. I can publish it as an open source project as well if other designers wanted to contribute as well
-
Hammermann[m]
What's the reason behind being Javascript free?
-
Hammermann[m]
carrington[m]: Sorry I'm new here. Didn't really have an idea where should I post them first
-
ErCiccione
<Hammermann[m]> "Sure. I had both in mind when..." <- I suggest to ask feedback before finishing. A complete redesign is something to not take lightly, even if the community loves it, the amount of effort and time that such work would need is quite a lot. Better open an issue here:
github.com/monero-project/monero-site/issues
-
ErCiccione
<Hammermann[m]> "What's the reason behind being..." <- Privacy.
-
Hammermann[m]
<ErCiccione> "I suggest to ask feedback before..." <- It's okay. It's gonna be a long iterative process eitherway so I'd rather explain the finished project and then work on it through feedbacks and iterations
-
Hammermann[m]
I'm not a code expert so I'm not sure how not using JS would affect the design but I'll ask around
-
geonic
ccs.getmonero.org throws an error
-
geonic
likely because Firo finally took down their illegal “ccs fork” last night
-
geonic
-
geonic
apparently someone had the great idea to connect the two somehow
-
nikg83[m]
geonic: Everything *getmonero.org is down
-
moneromoooo
.. what ? :S
-
nikg83[m]
moneromoooo: Web.getmonero.org is also down
-
nikg83[m]
who hosts the website ?
-
geonic
lol
-
geonic
did Diego give Reuben admin rights over getmonero.org ?!?
-
ErCiccione
binaryFate any news?
-
ErCiccione
btw the address is www.getmonero.org, which seems to be working normally
-
geonic
it’s the exact same error that was initially shown on ccs.firo.org which makes me think they’re connected
-
-
geonic
I get the same message
-
nikg83[m]
geonic: Server is down, cloudflare can’t connect to it
-
nikg83[m]
Cloudflare is just a revers proxy with cache
-
nikg83[m]
s/revers/reverse/
-
geonic
so Reuben just shut down the server? or are they completely unrelated?
-
nikg83[m]
geonic: Unrelated I guess, who manages the server though?
-
selsta
binaryFate should have access
-
geonic
I’d bet Reuben had access too
-
nikg83[m]
selsta: Someone should wake him up
-
nikg83[m]
geonic: Why would someone share root access to 3rd party
-
geonic
maybe I can ask Reuben to turn it back on
-
geonic
this is Diego we’re talking about. don’t underestimate him
-
nikg83[m]
geonic: Hmm 🤔, let’s wait for binaryfate to know what’s going on
-
selsta
20:00 <@ErCiccione> btw the address is www.getmonero.org, which seems to be working normally <-- that's cdn cached, once you click on anything it fails
-
pigeons
The host support is looking at a hardware issue
-
nikg83[m]
pigeons: 👍
-
pigeons
I think they are almost done
-
ErCiccione
<geonic> "I’d bet Reuben had access too" <- This is nonsense
-
pigeons
yes nonsense
-
geonic
I hope so :). Maybe it’s just a big coincidence that they both went offline at the same time.
-
nikg83[m]
geonic: Hardware issue as stated
-
ErCiccione
they probably have the same host i would guess, but the idea that somebody from another project has somehow access to our backend is nonsense
-
geonic
pigeons can you post chat logs with the host support?
-
geonic
I’m not taking the word of one of Diego’s employees on this one
-
ErCiccione
Come on man. Stay logic
-
binaryFate
we're investigating. I don't think posting any security critical logs is a good idea.
-
geonic
binaryFate ok. please verify firsthand
-
binaryFate
This has nothing to do with firo/reuben, can't believe I have to write this. you're just full on tin foil hat here.
-
binaryFate
Ok that should be fixed very soon.
-
binaryFate
The reason is very, very stupid. Due to miscommunication and not receiving warnings, we were late on last invoice from the host provider. (Normally sponsored by globee, but paid by CC by fluffy).
-
moneromoooo
Plot twist: reuben snuck into the server and deleted the warnings :o
-
binaryFate
To the point that they switched off server. I have now paid the invoice but their support needs some manual action to restart it.
-
binaryFate
Ok looks like we're all back up
-
geonic
moneromoooo :D
-
geonic
11:16 <pigeons> The host support is looking at a hardware issue
-
geonic
poor host support.. I hope they stopped looking
