monero-project/monero-site #1900 - would anyone like to give suggestion as to detail which would help move this issue forwards?
-
ErCiccione
monero-guides: My suggestion is to specify what you are suggesting to change and why, so that a discussion can start. As i was saying in monero-ux, separating between the changes to the menu and changes to the content of the pages will help speed up things.

I was hoping that the diagram would help do most of the talking for me. If it's that case that it doesn't, I would like to add descriptions as you suggest. With that in mind, I would appreciate more specific feedback about my suggestion

A simple diagram is not enough to start a discussion about a major set of changes to the website. I'm not sure of what you are asking. Without a description of what you want to add and why, there isn't much to discuss. As i wrote in the issue, i suggest to split the issue in at least two: one for the changes to the menu and one for the changes to the contents. Each issue should contain a description of the changes you would like to see and why.
-
monero-guides[m]
I would also like to highlight that there has been discussion as to what should actually be featured on the getmonero site. perhaps it would be best to dicuss that, before i attempt to right up my decision making process
-
monero-guides[m]
i don't see why it isn't possible to have open discourse about my proposal
-
monero-guides[m]
* my proposal at this point
-
ErCiccione
Of course it's possible. I'm just giving suggestions to guide you to the process of having your suggestions implemented. You are free to discuss whatever, obviously
-
monero-guides[m]
'A simple diagram is not enough to start a discussion about a major set of changes to the website' - well why did you write this?
-
monero-guides[m]
* - well then, why did
-
ErCiccione
It's not enough for me to contribute to the discussion, but anyone can contribute if they feel like it. I already told you that in my opinion you need to add more details to have your proposal discussed. There have been very well written proposals that have been sitting for years. Again, you can choose to do whatever you want
-
monero-guides[m]
i didn't know that, could you point me in their direction?
-
ErCiccione
who is their in this context?
-
monero-guides[m]
'There have been very well written proposals that have been sitting for years'
-
monero-guides[m]
i haven't seen any such proposals, other than one specific mock up linked in monero-ux
-
ErCiccione
i wasn't talking about the website specifically
-
monero-guides[m]
ok, but we're talking about the website here
-
monero-guides[m]
'There have been very well written proposals that have been sitting for years' - this statement is rather discouraging
-
ErCiccione
the website works exactly like the rest of the Monero project
-
ErCiccione
welcome to open source 🙂
-
ErCiccione
I don't understand why you are being so negative. Is it weird to ask for more details when you are proposing a major set of changes?
-
monero-guides[m]
what is your opinion on the current proposal; what do you like about my diagram? what do you dislike?
-
ErCiccione
As i was saying. I need more details to know why you are proposing those changes. What are the benefits? and the drawbacks? answering those questions will help people contribute to the discussion
-
monero-guides[m]
personally, i don't think those things are necessary at all. It seems like we ought to open the floor to other people for the time being
-
ErCiccione
what things?
-
monero-guides[m]
rather, answering those questions. Through experience and intuition, i think it's possible to make inferences from the diagram. Inferences with would produce either negative or passive emotions. I want to know how people feel, nothing more
-
monero-guides[m]

-
monero-guides[m]
maybe i should have made them more explicit
-
monero-guides[m]
perhaps, how do you feel about the diagram? is a better question
-
monero-guides[m]
but i'm more used to asking, what do you think?

I think that i appreciate somebody is willing to make these improvements to the website. To be able to say more on the proposal itself, i need it to be more detailed and clear
-
monero-guides[m]
<ErCiccione> "I think that i appreciate..." <- perhaps then you could explain what you find unclear?
-
monero-guides[m]
* find unclear? if anything
-
monero-guides[m]

monero-guides: this is a good example of a good feature request:
monero-project/monero-site #1483.
-
ErCiccione
you don't need to take the screenshots, but gives you a good idea of how to add more details to your issue.
-
monero-guides[m]
thanks for the example
-
monero-guides[m]
* the example, i do have an appreciation for what you want and i'm not ignoring it
-
monero-guides[m]
i am however hesitant to put any more work or effort into something that may not be of any real value

You need to understand that this is open source. Couple of weeks ago i spent a good amount of time writing a blog post that was rejected. That's how it is. There are no assurances, it's an orizzontal community. If people like your stuff gets implemented, if they don't like it will not be. Now, your idea already received some appreciation, so there are very good chances there will be changes. To discuss the form of the changes there needs to be
-
ErCiccione
more details about what you ask. I don't think i can be more clear than that.
-
monero-guides[m]
i have no issue with any of that, that's for reaffirming my existing understanding
