<plowsof11> "so the MATRIX button to link..." <- yes, exactly
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Should probably add -support and swap out -pools since -pools is pretty far from mining talk
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Either that or moderate -pools 🫣
-
ofrnxmr[m]
This room (website) appears to still be on matrix.org and not officially on monero.social
-
ofrnxmr[m]
<ofrnxmr[m]> "Either that or moderate -pools 🫣" <- I eoul suggest Monero Mining but it doesnt begin with #monero- (problem?)
-
ofrnxmr[m]
i woul suggest Monero Mining **
-
xmrscott[m]
<plowsof11> "are we haveno.network or monero..." <- This room main address is matrixorg and additional is monerosocial, but the room name for the address is slightly different for both
-
xmrscott[m]
Monero-site for one, monero-website for other
-
xmrscott[m]
-site is what IRC uses so my suggestion to the Matrix room admins here would be:
-
xmrscott[m]
1. Make monreo-site:monero.social the primary
-
xmrscott[m]
2. Change the namesapce of monero-website:matrix.org to monero-site:matrix.org
-
ofrnxmr[m]
xnrscott, can you do the honors?
-
ofrnxmr[m]
xmr*
-
ofrnxmr[m]
(you needs ops of course)
-
xmrscott[m]
I can not. ErC is the sole admin of this room, but they should be able to do in the next day or so I presume
-
ofrnxmr[m]
erc doesnt know how
-
ofrnxmr[m]
He tried last yr
-
xmrscott[m]
Ah, well if he knows how to make me admin I can certainly do that
-
ofrnxmr[m]
I think he needs a monero.social account to create the appropriate room
-
xmrscott[m]
Also, just as a vacation factor thing, there should be a second admin for this room. Whether it's Core, or someone else active-ish doesn't matter... just my personal recommendation from dealing with turnover and group management at work
-
ofrnxmr[m]
of course. But this room was haveno.network lol
-
ofrnxmr[m]
I think erc wakes in a few hours.
-
ofrnxmr[m]
I was under haveno.network homeserver was gone - yet theres still an admin on haveno.network. if that acct doesnt work, it shouldnt be there
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Anyway its a mess and i would think it obvious to give ops to xmrscott so it can be not-a-mess
-
ErCiccione
So sick of this guy throwing shit without even getting the basic info right first.
-
ErCiccione
- changin the primary address doesn't have any effect on links, but can be done without issues.
-
ErCiccione
- the addresses of these room got messed up when the haveno server was taken down and then never brought up again. Admin users cannot be deleted
-
ErCiccione
- i've been asking many time during the years for somebody active in the workgroup to get admin access along with me as a backup. Nobody ever came forward.
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Grow up puppy
-
ofrnxmr[m]
I didnt throw a damn thing
-
ErCiccione
Behave respectfully or leave the room.
-
ofrnxmr[m]
tell yourself that
-
ErCiccione
About changing to monero-site. Would be the optimal choice and in fact was the first attempt when i first created the room. A bug made the room unaccessible and the address reserved, that's why it's not possible to use monero-site on matrix.org
-
ErCiccione
All the other things can be added without issues
-
ErCiccione
About my experience with matrix: i managed two homeservers (i still manage one) and i was the one who gave suggestions during the migration to monero social when there were issues and helped pigeons while he was setting it So i have a tiny bit of experience with how things work.
-
ErCiccione
So yeah, trolls gotta troll and waste people's time as usual
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Your handling of haveno.network was atrocious
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Ask rbrunner7 or sgp lol
-
ofrnxmr[m]
And monero-site
-
ErCiccione
Again you are talking pushed by the will of spitting poison more than having an idea of whag you are talking about
-
ofrnxmr[m]
With its extra admin
-
ErCiccione
Haveno.network never had a problem until i managed
-
ofrnxmr[m]
no, youre talking about how im a troll becase i brought up that this room was on your personal homeserver
-
ErCiccione
And monero-site is probably one of the oldest monero mafrix rooms and has been working without problems, except this recent issue of messages dropping
-
ofrnxmr[m]
i dont have to tell anyone what we all can see
-
ErCiccione
ofrnxmr[m]: It was not.
-
ErCiccione
Again you are wasting my time by forcing me to answer to idiotic claims
-
ofrnxmr[m]
It was. Aand the convo should be in here
-
ofrnxmr[m]
ErCiccione: Vitriol all day yknow
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Of you want to talk shit and curse i can do that alllllll day shithead
-
ofrnxmr[m]
You need to try to get a rise out of me with every message? Insecure af little shit
-
ErCiccione
Last warning. Behave or leave the room
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Keep it professional
-
ofrnxmr[m]
WARN YOURSELF YA FRIKKEN CHARLATAL
-
ErCiccione
Kicked. Let's enjoy the peace while it lasts.
-
ErCiccione
If somebody active in the workgroup wants admin access please let me know. A backup is needed.
-
ErCiccione
I don't know the issues referred to about the haveno matrix rooms, but my guess is that not bringing back up the servers after i transferred my credentials and left Haveno have created problems to rooms based on that holeserver
-
ErCiccione
As logic can tell, i didn't have access to that server anymore, so it's logic that if it wasn't brought back up by the new admins that caused problems.
-
ErCiccione
About messages being dropped from IRC: I fixed this with selsta multiple times but the setting keeps resetting itself. We probably hit some bug on the bridge. i will signal it to matrix people and see what the issue is.
-
ErCiccione
Would not be the first time that problems in this room helps fix a problem to the IRC bridge managed by matrix 😛
-
ErCiccione
Looks like all the alternative addresses of this matrix room disappeared. Maybe it's related to the bridge settings disappear. We will find out.
-
ErCiccione
New primary address is now monero-site:monero.social. No worries it doesn't make any practical difference
-
ErCiccione
<plowsof11> "so the MATRIX button to link..." <- I tested this when spaces where initially introduced, but links to those weren't working at the time, now that they are out of beta maybe it works.
-
ErCiccione
if they do i agree we could add them, even if spaces support is still kinda limited
-
ErCiccione
Added xmrscott as backup admin on matrix
-
ErCiccione
added a commit with the original file as made by moneromooo. Please review:
monero-project/monero-site #2131
-
ErCiccione
The translations need a review. Best way to review is to just navigate around translated pages or skim through the changes. A rubberstamp approval would be ok too:
monero-project/monero-site #2150
-
plowsof11
stamped 2150 (russian translated page looks good - iirc these are new translations since the 'passphrase offset' was added to account restore. overall, nice to see we have life in the localisations)
-
ErCiccione
yes, they translated an entire user guide too. People have been contributing to weblate anyway in these months and we didn't have many string changes, so we will get a nice amount of new translated strings
-
ErCiccione
i'm restarting to work on getmonero in a more stable way and there will definitely be string changes because a lot of stuff needs to be updated
-
plowsof11
thanks for clarifying xmrscott much better with room name parity (ive tried to rejoin 'website' on irc after not finding it in my room list several times lol)
-
plowsof11
ErC: thanks for the diffs, consider 2156 as my review. if you check the commit notes, things where added. some unwritten things i remember doing are to fix the qr codes at the bottom of the print preview (a <br> so theyre on their own line) and... remove the line under the primary address which looked out of place. the AEON / Townforge QR's do not work but this is not our priority/problem to fix. i have a printer to test if needed also.
-
plowsof11
(as the permalink gets printed on the paper wallet)
-
ErCiccione
the permalinks getting printed is something we cannot avoid, or at least i didn't find a way, since the front matter has to be on the top and not included in any div. I will add a <br> to the qr codes
-
ErCiccione
pushed the fix for the qr code (<br> is not an optimalo approach, i edited the css)
-
ErCiccione
the line under the primary address is part of the box that contains the address.
-
plowsof11
2156 shows how to avoid the permalink (with an alias)
-
plowsof11
-
ErCiccione
i see, but i'm a bit skeptik about changing a configuration parameter for the repository only to remove a string from the offline page. Also, as far as i understood collections are meant to create a group of something and using them to hide a string seem to take advantage of a side feature, but it's not really meant to be used like that. This could cause problems now or in the future. I don't think it worth it.
-
ErCiccione
about the other changes you propose. i'm curious about hardcoding the hash to manifest.json. I'm missing what problems would that solve
-
ErCiccione
About the other changes you implemented:
-
ErCiccione
<noscript> tags used to hide 'js required' note -> javascript is required, people should know it or they might use a broken page without noticing
-
ErCiccione
if URL starts with http a note advising against online usage is displayed -> The tool can be used both offline and online.
-
ErCiccione
clicking logo directs user to getmonero.org instead of "#" -> this would make people using tor find themselves on clearnet, that's why i used #
-
plowsof11
ignore the manifest.json issue - was seeing an error locally, but strangely not with yours (the manifest is attempted to be taken from "/meta/..." a url not existing locally and showed an error but not for yours :S
-
ofrnxmr[m]
No. The tool shoukd not be used online. No idea why you decided paper wallets shoukd be generated on live devices. But no, they should not be. Guides specifically instruct using air gapped / offline devices
-
plowsof11
if i have js enabled, i wont see it. if its disabled, ill see it. removing an eye sore
-
ErCiccione
plowsof11: People need to know they need to have javascript activated to use the tool and if they don't have it activated they will be unable to use the tool, without knowing why. It would be bad user experience, which is probably why it was added in the original generator. I don't think we should remove it
-
ErCiccione
<ofrnxmr[m]> "No. The tool shoukd not be..." <- We are putting a wallet generator online, which can also be used offline with the guide. There are many reasons people might want to use it online... That's also why we are adding it online on the first place, or we could just link to the html file and make people download it, without needing to host it
-
ErCiccione
btw you are not banned, only kicked for now. You can enter the room from matrix, no need to go around that
-
plowsof11
<noscript>You need to enable JavaScript to run this app.</noscript> is like industry standard?
-
ErCiccione
plowsof11: ah i misunderstood, i thought you wanted to remove the warning entirely
-
ErCiccione
sure, i can add that
-
ErCiccione
added
-
plowsof11
the "#" can also be a "." iirc
-
plowsof11
btw just so you are aware who hinto is (ive not been asked to say this), a new contributor but has completed 1 ccs proposal, and currently in the maintenance period of their 2nd for
gupax.io
-
ErCiccione
Got it thanks for the summary.
-
ErCiccione
That's a cool tool i came across not long ago. Didn't know it was ccs funded. After it has ben around we could add it on getmonero
-
plowsof11
without the collections stuff in _config, {% include_relative monero-wallet-generator.html %} in the index.html works
-
xmrscott[m]
Since I have Matrix room organization on the brain, trying to make room icons more visually distinctive when viewing in a list. Would the Breeze Dark icon of applications-internet.svg overlayed in the bottom right corner be agreeable? Since Monero is based off of Qt which is used by KDE applications primarily and KDE uses Breeze as the default icon set
-
-
kinghat[m]
what is the meaning of the small right corner icon?
-
xmrscott[m]
Although actually Element puts an icon in the bottom right, so this, but with the icon in the bottom left so more visible in Element clients
-
xmrscott[m]
-
kinghat[m]
oh you mean since this is "Monero Website"?
-
xmrscott[m]
If you know of a better CC0-ish icon that better conveys browser (and is browser vendor neutral) could use that as well
-
xmrscott[m]
Yes, exactly
-
kinghat[m]
what is general purpose of that spot in matrix channel icons though?
-
kinghat[m]
i dont know what its for or anyone customize it
-
xmrscott[m]
As in why does Element use an icon for rooms there too when rooms don't have an online state like users? Don't know myself
-
kinghat[m]
no, what is the smaller icon for? why is it there? by default its just a world from what i can tell:
-
-
kinghat[m]
ive never seen anything other than that gray circle
-
xmrscott[m]
Yeah, that. I just realized what a varying attribute rooms would have that would warrant use of that lower right space: Public vs private rooms
-
xmrscott[m]
World icon indicates public room
-
xmrscott[m]
Private rooms have no icon in lower right
-
kinghat[m]
i did the monero markets icon but i dont want to do all of the others
-
kinghat[m]
room differentiation would be nice
-
xmrscott[m]
So in sum, since Element and potentially other clients use lower right space to designate private vs public, this is what I'd propose updating the Monero Website room icon to using the internet-web-browser.svg:
-
-
xmrscott[m]
* what I'd roughly propose updating
