but that's just a branding issue. In the real world, there's no difference between a real and a fake watch.

bitcoin is interesting because it's accepted in a lot of places

which, orthogonally, means that the lightning network is totally useless

because it's not "bitcoins" in any meaningful sense

Litecoin is a better currency intermediary because of high liquidity and reasonably high levels of acceptance.

BCH is a better actual currency than BTC, if you want something in the more traditional "Bitcoin" mold, because of its high liquidity, decent community, and technical direction.

Monero is a better actual currency outside of the mainstream economy because of its privacy characteristics, mining characteristics, and development context.

Wownero is quite interesting in a number of ways, and its development is always interesting, but part of what makes its dev interesting also makes it less well suited to use as a general currency due to the way its technical characteristics can make extremely sharp turns.

When talking about one currency being better than another, the implicit question should be "For what?", and any strict single-currency maximalist must simply be incompetent or unwilling to recognize that.

I still wouldn't bother using BTC as an actual currency if I didn't have to. If some coffee shop takes BTC and USD, I'd just use USD instead.

Being a more widely accepted cryptocurrency is not the same as being a better currency.

It just means you can have a fucking *terrible* time with it in more places.

BTC has been a better place to park a large chunk of wealth for a while, and may continue to be that for a while as well, if all you want is to put USD in and later get much more purchasing power out -- though Ethereum has looked better overall for that lately.
