Also I read on some website that Monero was considering implementing zk-STARKs, would this replace RingCT or be used alongside it?

Range proofs were not originally used because amounts were not hidden, they used another method to obfuscate amounts

bulletproof are a type of rangeproof

They are an upgrade from the original type used in that they are much smaller

I don't know of any work being done on zk-starks for monero

The amount of lost hash rate will be somewhere in the middle, but probably closer to losing most.

Now, though, since we have p2pool, it might be a more... winsome change, since p2pool gives low hash rate miners another possibility...

Which, if easy enough to switch to, might mean not so much hash rate gets shed.

I can't see a good reason to recommend anything besides p2pool. 0% pool fees, how can you beat that?
