i know the consensus is that it's best to run your own node (with pruning if disk space is an issue), but are there any nodes that you guys personally trust? maybe someone here runs a node themselves?
-
polanon14
the lists of 'trusted nodes' on the internet i've found are a bit weird and not often updated and I travel often. would prefer to not have an entire node on my laptop(s)
-
selsta
selsta1.featherwallet.net:18081 is mine
-
selsta
I trust myself :D but you should still run your own node ideally
-
gingeropolous
polanon14, seriously consider getting a cheap vps somewhere to run your own
-
polanon14
i know, i know. just a question in case I'll ever be "in a pinch"
-
binaryFate
I trust the nodes at
community.rino.io/nodes.html as me and colleagues run them
-
polanon14
thanks!
-
gingeropolous
and I trust the nodes at node.moneroworld.com . And for a limited time, it comes with Super Trust

where the data is reinforced with 2 inch thick ... uhm.. optic disrupters. yeah
-
gingeropolous
yeah yeah. at moneroworld, we transmit data on a completely secondary internet backbone made up of p2p wifi repeaters
-
binaryFate
too neat can't compete
-
gingeropolous
yeah. and uhhhh... once it gets back to the internet backbone, we ensure that the fiber it travels over is surrounded by 2 inches of other empty fiber
-
polanon14
i fear one day there will be a serious need for an alternate internet backbone
-
gingeropolous
we request our fiber be surrounded by dark fiber. yeah
-
polanon14
or to invent a completely new infrastructure with new protocols
-
polanon14
p2p, free and libre of course
-
polanon14
coulda argue theres already a need for that
-
gingeropolous
and somewhere there are lasers.

If i was to rent a VPS I'd probably just let my home PC run 24/7 (and run a cpu miner on it while i'm at it)... although i plan to build a website soon and *that* I would definitely not want to self-host, as enticing as the idea of self hosting everything seems
