gingeropolous
oh boy. here i go mucking up my local git repo by pulling in PRs that aren't in master
-
gingeropolous
this is how i always end up needing to rm -r my directory
-
gingeropolous
oh shit there's a new tag
-
gingeropolous
merge conflict!
-
gingeropolous
error building trees
-
gingeropolous
jesus monkeybut
-
gingeropolous
guess what stupid git. ure getting deleted
-
selsta
gingeropolous: are you trying to merge the 2 PRs?
-
gingeropolous
yep
-
selsta
that's why I recommended release-v0.17
-
selsta
otherwise there are merge conflicts
-
gingeropolous
howd u guess :)
-
selsta
ran into it myself
-
» gingeropolous smash
-
gingeropolous
this is the syntax right? git pull origin pull/7998/head
-
selsta
yes
-
gingeropolous
damn.
-
gingeropolous
error: The following untracked working tree files would be overwritten by merge:
-
gingeropolous
well friggin overwrite it
-
gingeropolous
is there a --force
-
gingeropolous
--just_do_it
-
selsta
git status
-
selsta
then post the output
-
selsta
or can you nuke the branch?
-
selsta
the whole folder
-
selsta
and try again from scratch
-
gingeropolous
i did 7759 first, then 7998
-
selsta
should be fine
-
gingeropolous

-
gingeropolous
-
selsta

-
gingeropolous
lulz
-
gingeropolous
someone clicked on it before u did
-
selsta
ok another merge conflict, wait
-
selsta
I'll have a better solution
-
gingeropolous
long story short
-
gingeropolous
CONFLICT (content): Merge conflict in src/rpc/core_rpc_server.h
-
selsta
1 sec
-
selsta
git clone -b master-beta
github.com/selsta/monero
-
gingeropolous
oh boy
-
selsta
master branch + the PRs added
-
gingeropolous
danke schon
-
selsta
bitte
-
gingeropolous
so does the merge conflict mean that somethings gotta be fiddled with because stuff changed at some point?
-
gingeropolous
that was a useless sentence
-
selsta
yes
-
gingeropolous
so i think im still gonna run the script but disable the IP blocking part of it, because it will tally how many connections each IP is making
-
selsta
ok
-
gingeropolous
so that might show that its working. or at least doing something different
-
selsta
like I said I never have any issues but I also don't run a blockchain explorer which might have its own bugs
-
selsta
I remember there was this reader thing
-
gingeropolous
hrm. yeah. could that be bleeding over or something?
-
selsta
don't think so
-
gingeropolous
okey doke. well its up and running
-
gingeropolous
to eat late night hummus or not to eat late night hummus
-
apotheon
gingeropolous: not
-
apotheon
Eating late at night isn't really good for you.
-
apotheon
at least, generally speaking

pixificial
Is it possible to have the blockchain / ledger downloaded & updated in one local computer, and have your wallet(s) and transactions done in another local computer without the latter having the blockchain / ledger downloaded? (I don't need to know how, all I need to know is whether that's doable or not)
-
xmrpeasant
@pixificial You can use the one local computer that is a fullnode as a remote node on the clients. The clients only need to make an RPC connection to it and not have the blockchain.
-
louipc
pixificial: yes absolutely

Is there any open apis to get current monero price?
-
merope
Pretty much all exchanges (including Kraken and Binance) allow you to fetch market data without the need to register an account
-
merope
Also Coingecko and Coinmarketcap

I read somewhere that people send coins to their own address, what does this do?
-
louipc
moves coins from one wallet to another
-
nioc
maybe he means to the same wallet
-
nioc
consolidating multiple outputs or splitting outputs
-
gingeropolous
i know. i shouldn't have done it
-
visualshock
nioc, yes, to the same wallet
-
moneromooo
This can be a way to try and "drown" an output's path in the spend graph. Whether it is counterproductive or not is not easy to determine.

I mean, I don't even know how many times I told people to use their own node. Most don't give a shit. They just want to trade with the exchange.
-
moneromooo
"Your own node" just means "it gets complicated" and "I have to wait". Privacy doesn't even register.
-
moneromooo
Most of them are probably just corporate victims anyway, their privacy's long gone.

hyc
-
apotheon
That's the same article I saw earlier from another source.
-
apotheon
I don't recall the source, or where I first saw the address for it.
-
Mochi103
Why do these types of article always imply that Monero CAN be traced?
-
Mochi103
They're total BS.
