immibis_since 0.18 and the corresponding block update, monero has been syncing at ~100 blocks per second on a spinning drive. That's crazy fast but should I be concerned it's not verifying correctly?
-
immibis_because that's only time for like 1-2 disk seeks per block
-
immibis_ok now it slowed down. maybe there were just a lot of blocks with no transactions while people upgraded their software
-
moneromoooYou can use print_bc, it'll print the number of txes in the input range.
-
immibis_no difference. dunno then
-
selstaimmibis_: we added new checkpoints int the last release
-
selstaso all blocks until 2-3 weeks ago should sync faster
-
immibis_could be it
-
immibis_... does that mean most of the time spent syncing is just verifying PoW then?
-
selstaverifying pow gets skipped on blocks with known hashes
-
immibis_memory requirement seems to be down as well
-
selstabut not sure if that's what you are seeing
-
hycnew checkpoints each release definitely has that impact
