Mochi101 I don't like theocracy. That said, at the very least we should go back to the true 'christmas', the saturnalias
-
Mochi101
as2333, Christmas is Santa for the kids and family and friends for everybody.

I am ~10 months behind on syncing my prumed lmdb but I'm on a spinning disk laptop, so it's going to take like 2 weeks to sync
-
drew
my desktop has an m2 drive, but I am nervous that syncing monero will wear out the storage. Is monerod really hard on storage?
-
Torr
drew: About 35Gb iirc
-
drew
i mean more like will it wear out the storage; does it hammer the drive with reads and writes
-
drew
I guess there's not a clear answer to this
-
Torr
Well, it will do a reasonable amount of rw syscalls, but nothing more than what one can see with db engines like Postgres for example.
-
Torr
Blockchains are basically distributed dbs anyways.
-
Torr
Go on and sync.
-
drew
alright I'll give it a shot, thanks
-
Torr
Cheers

Torr
Alright gentlemen, leaving for today
-
Torr
See ya

i think people are only worried about "flash drives" having 'life span reduced slightly'

e.g. on mobile phones

depends a lot on whether your manufacturer wanted to cheap on silicon and shove as much bits as it can into the mosfet gates with tiny error tolerance (and wear endurance) as a result

<spacekitty420[m]> "the "EU tryna ban privacy coins"..." <- or realistically, US/foreign exchanges (there are no really major exhcanges in europe anyway, as the EU is very good at stifling innovation)

What's that
-
Morpheus[m]
Katie[m]: For example, if you want to pay ProtonVPN or ProtonMail, but they only accept Bitcoin. Then, proceed to Trocador.app and generate a Payment swap from XMR -> BTC. We'll calculate the best rate for you and deliver that same exact amount. Since you can use any of our 60 listed coins to generate a XMR -> Coin swap, you can pay any service that accepts cryptocurrencies using your very precious Monero.

eudaimon36[m]
Hey, GUys:
-
eudaimon36[m]
I recently moved from Windows to Ubuntu. I had a windows GUI wallet there. Can I access it from my Linux wallet GUI by using the .keys file?
-
eudaimon36[m]
or are these incompatible, and I must recreate wallet from seed?
-
xfedex[m]
eudaimon36[m]: Yes
-
eudaimon36[m]
excellent! Thanks!
-
xfedex[m]
I think on Linux with GUI, wallet files are saved in ~/Monero/wallets
-
xfedex[m]
So just copy the wallet file there
-
eudaimon36[m]
ok, going to give it a try...may be back after I botch it all up...
-
eudaimon36[m]
thanks, again

Do Epyc 7**2 processors lose out on hashrate if not all memory channels are populated?
-
ec
I.e. with 4 DIMMs like on the ASRock ROMED4ID-2T
-
sech1
yes
-
sech1
max 12.5 kh/s per memory channel
-
sech1
max 50 kh/s with 4 DIMMs
-
ec
Isn't that below the max hashrate on those CPUs?
-
ec
-

-
sech1
98 kh/s for 2 CPU system

mranostaj
so i noticed with export to csv transactions.. that failed transaction end up in the output without anything to signal that is a failed one.. this of course effects my reporting scripts :)
-
Mochi101
What's the ROI on that system sech1 ?
-
RavFX[m]
is ROI even possible?
-
RavFX[m]
I buy my stuff to use it, mining is bonus
