You guys know that shitcoin Pirate Chain? Well hypothetically someone could spam it w/ hundreds of gb of junk data for less than $100 because of their broken fee system. Even a couple terabytes for a few hundred dollars. This would cripple the network and would make wallet sync take literally forever (low/mid-end CPUs would never catch up with chaintip), essentially destroying the scamcoin. Just saying. Y'know, hypothetically.

exactly, it's a scam. It lures people who don't know any better in with muh zkSNARKs. If it wasn't a scam then I would not suggest this, but it is, so the would probably be better if it was gone. Maybe a non-scam zkSNARKs coin could take its place.

The spam attack scales to zcash too. Its a zksnarks problem. Probably why zec allows transparent. If it was fully private, it would be a snail beside xmr (like arrr is)

Yeah, except it's a lot more dangerous on pirate because it's cheaper, and the blocksize is significantly bigger. The only thing in ARRR's favor is that they still have a 200kb txn size cap, while ZEC essentially removed this restriction after the Sapling upgrade. zkSNARKs don't scale for a few reasons but especially when you have a braindead fee system like ZEC and ARRR, it's just a recipe for disaster.
