Does anybody know what --tos-flag is in monerod?

After checking in the code I don't understand. Seems to be something pretty lowlevel. "tos" seems to stand for "Type of Service (ToS) for the IP header"

hi people. I know I will sound like an old dude asking the question for the N time again.... but... why don't monero switches to PoS ?  Or... is there any Monero fork that does?

PoW is permission less, you don't need anyone to sell you their shares to participate, unlike PoS. This also makes it more robust against a takeover, even if you'd seize 51% of the mining hardware, others can simply ramp up their share. This is especially true for Moneros RandomX, that runs on commercial CPUs. And even IF somebody would seize hardware to attack, they would need to pay for electricity and maintance, unlike PoS, where you have

to do nothing to hold your position (besides running a node, maybe).

So overall RandomX is a much more robust system than any PoS could ever be.

I am aware that a mining pool had over 50% hashrate a few months ago, but awareness on reddit made it possible to overcome the problem. i didn';t know about "randomX", now I start to understand why it was possible to overcome the problem

I don't know how ethereum deals with the PoS problem, but I guess they figured out a solution that works well

Looks to me their "solution" is mostly "be big" ... you can't make that 51% PoS breakdown problem go away for good, IMHO.

Well, PoS "works" well enough to protect against small malicious actors, but if a country or several were committed to take it down it would be a lot easier

they probably looked at the % out of all pools listed on that site instead of global hashrate

anyway moneroocean doesn't have 0% fee, i once mined on it and profit was slightly lower than what mining calculators said

plus moneroocean takes a fixed 0.0004 fee when withdrawing, which is more than a real tx fee

it's responding to bridged users from matrix side but most matrix users are "guests" here without being logged in on irc so most of the bot commands don't work until the user logs in here

that's on how matrix does bridging just like the [m] part of the nicks

the bot supports matrix directly then uses the matrix authentication for bot access
