plowsof11: next trivia - what was the name of the site dedicated to trolling/harassing monero users by linking IP addresses of network users to show their porn torrent downloading habits?

lza_menace
bonus point for who made it
-
comradeblin[m]
hey guys, I need a bit of help, I'd like to submit a CCS for the Monero Subscriptions and Business wallet, but the getmonero gitlab instance wont let me for the CCS Proposals repository.
-
comradeblin[m]
it says that I have reached the maximum number of repositories.
-
-
plowsof11
make an account on our gitlab instance instead of logging in with a third party site, should work then
-
plowsof11
do you recognise these names: spirobel and/or luke profits
-
comradeblin[m]
yes I work with luke :D
-
ocean[m]
<lza_menace> "bonus point for who made it" <- didnt hear about this but my guess is f*reice
-
plowsof11
and or silverpill
-
comradeblin[m]
I do not recognise the 2 other names, but I work with Luke
-
comradeblin[m]
Uhh, I deleted the github registration but now I cant use neither my email or my username
-

plowsoffffff plowsof+plswork⊙lc
-
comradeblin[m]
huh?
-
comradeblin[m]
I know I can just use the . or the + in the email, but what do I do with my username? do I just go l33t?
-
comradeblin[m]
I guess
-
comradeblin[m]
It does not seem to send me the verification code?
-
plowsof11
some email providers do not like getmonero cus we have weird certs or something
-
plowsof11
protonmail is ok with it. i guess you will need manual veridication from an admin who is probably sleeping atm , what is your username
-
comradeblin[m]
i use gmail
-
comradeblin[m]
C0mradeBlin
-
cornerood[m]
moneromarket.io still has nsfw content on by default to not logged users. i dont think thats a good idea
-
plowsof11
but i see a nsfw button
-
comradeblin[m]
also, I and Luke are the devs of sub wallet, can we skip the "idea" phase, or how does this work when the idea maker is the dev?
-
plowsof11
ill make a note of your username C0mradeBlin and try to contact an admin tomorrow
-
comradeblin[m]
thank you.
-
comradeblin[m]
comradeblin[m]: hm
-
plowsof11
everything goes to the idea stage for discussion in #monero-community:monero.social (meetings also)
-
comradeblin[m]
ahh, ok and about how much time is it usually to get accepted?
-
plowsof11
under 1 month would be jaw droppingly fast
-
cornerood[m]
<plowsof11> "but i see a nsfw button" <- but i see nsfw content on first load.
-
cornerood[m]
and iv closed the site never to return again lol
-
comradeblin[m]
plowsof11: mhm

-
comradeblin[m]

-
comradeblin[m]
wdym "tell the creator about your experience"?
-
plowsof11
sorry that was for cornerood , names appear similar when sleepy
-
comradeblin[m]
ahh okay
-
comradeblin[m]
and what was your intentions with the "spooky"?
-
cornerood[m]
👽
-
comradeblin[m]
yea, the confirm email hasnt arrived yet, it prolly got stuck :|
-
comradeblin[m]
also, plowsof you have been in the comm for quite some time, I am curious, in how much time do you thing the sub wallet get accepted, if it even gets accepted?
-
comradeblin[m]
this question is coming from both luke and me.
-
plowsof11
who knows how the hive mind will receive it, needs to be on the ideas page first
-
comradeblin[m]
yea, I need to get verified first lol
-
plowsof11
if you post the idea as a gist , then people can see it before/after the meeting on the 1st
-
plowsof11
while waiting for manual verification (sorry everyone for reading my DM's)
-
comradeblin[m]
plowsof11: I can do that? sure!
-
comradeblin[m]
oh, no I cant, cuz I dont have an account :D
-
comradeblin[m]
thats why I need to get verified...
-
plowsof11
gist as in github
-
comradeblin[m]
and do I just post the link here or?
-
plowsof11
U can do that? sure!
-
agentsmith09[m]
hello everyone
-
agentsmith09[m]
i need some assistence with monero RPC and python, is this a good place to talk?
-
agentsmith09[m]
i run monerod --testnet --offline --rpc.bind-port 28080... (full message at <
libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/v3/do…1b277b43c51171fc97099a7297a276f22bf>)

agentsmith09[m]
* i run monerod --testnet --offline --rpc.bind-port 28080... (full message at <
libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/v3/do…e4597473f33acf5c0e2544ef660345746b1>)
-
agentsmith09[m]
-
agentsmith09[m]
i dont' understand why...
-
agentsmith09[m]
i can interact with monerod with requests but when i use create_wallet i get method not found
-
agentsmith09[m]
i've seen here
-
agentsmith09[m]
-
agentsmith09[m]
when use create_wallet
-
agentsmith09[m]
i have to set --wallet-dir when using monero-wallet-rpc....but i'm not running monero-wallet-rpc, im' just running monerod....i'm confused don't know what to do for create a wallet in python
-
rbrunner
Well, that's your problem. You have to run both, monerod *and* monero-wallet-rcp.
-
rbrunner
In your own code you will probably only communicate directly with monero-wallet-rpc, not the daemon. But of course you could as well, depending on your needs.
-
rbrunner
monero-wallet-rpc needs of course also be started with the proper command line arguments to connect to your daemon
-
rbrunner
The hint is right there in the doc you linked to, by the way: "Create a new wallet. You need to have set the argument "–wallet-dir" when launching monero-wallet-rpc to make this work."
-
rbrunner
"launching monero-wallet-rpc" :)
-
agentsmith09[m]
<rbrunner> ""launching monero-wallet-rpc" :)" <- Ok I will try

I turned my 18 fiction and science fiction short stories about Monero into a nice e-book (EPUB format), and now I am looking for some "beta testers"
-
rbrunner
that can tell me whether it loads on their readers and apps, whether it looks ok, and whether one gets from the preface what it is all about
-
rbrunner
-
ceetee[m]
<rbrunner> "that can tell me whether it..." <- Loads on Librera (fdroid variant) and formatting looks good, Preface is concise and clear. Nice work
-
hbs[m]
<rbrunner> "I turned my 18 fiction and..." <- Fully readable on Remarkable 2, maybe the preface could introduce Monero just a little, defining its main attributes like privacy and true cash like?
-
agentsmith09[m]
so i run monerod --offline --testnet --rpc-binding-port 28080... (full message at <
libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/v3/do…4183708093af619de1431f189093ff45694>)
-
naphtha[m]
should be
-
naphtha[m]
for rpc you don't use monero-wallet-clif
-
naphtha[m]
it's monero-wallet-rpc
-
naphtha[m]
s/clif/cli/
-
agentsmith09[m]
naphtha[m]: monero-wallet-rpc, got confused
-
agentsmith09[m]
now if i go on python script i should run request... (full message at <
libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/v3/do…dc5a6ebd87d33e51dc5946551b820185adb>)
-
agentsmith09[m]
ohh fuck
-
agentsmith09[m]
it worked
-
rbrunner
ceetee[m], hbs[m]: Thanks for trying it out, and for the feedback. Indeed, some quick info about Monero would probably be useful.
-
agentsmith09[m]
-
-
naphtha[m]
are you using the monerod rpc port or monero-wallet-rpc port?
-
agentsmith09[m]
naphtha[m]: i've set the port on monerod launching monerod --rpc-bind etc.. 28080
-
naphtha[m]
you don't use rpc methods on monerod
-
naphtha[m]
you use them on monero-wallet-rpc
-
naphtha[m]
monero-wallet-rpc --stagenet --disable-rpc-login --rpc-bind-port 1234 --wallet-file stagenetrpc
-
naphtha[m]
port you connect to would be 1234
-
agentsmith09[m]
naphtha[m]: that's what i call an answer ;)
-
agentsmith09[m]
nice
-
merope
<naphtha[m]> "you don't use rpc methods on..." <- Monerod has its own set of rpc methods
-
merope
But they're different from wallet-rpc of course, since it's a completely different program
-
scragglez[m]
What do we have to do to get darkmode on getmonero.org?
-
naphtha[m]
install dark reader
-
scragglez[m]
sorry
-
scragglez[m]
What do we have to do to get darkmode on getmonero.org besides installing dark reader?
-
scragglez[m]
dark reader does seem nice it does make the code snippets have a weird brownish red background
-
naphtha[m]
write your own stylesheet and inject it with stylus i guess
-
naphtha[m]
you can use dark reader's grayscale feature to fix colors
-
-
scragglez[m]
see that's pretty slick looking, I might have to do that
