randyr
is this normal?
-
moneromooo
If you're syncing to floppy.
-
moneromooo
Wait a bit, 0% means you just started monerod, it probably took a bit to download its first blocks, which might skew the guess.
-
moneromooo
In any case, use a SSD, they're *much* faster to sync with that spinning disks.
-
randyr
i use an ssd
-
moneromooo
SSD should sync in a couple days, spinning disks in a couple weeks.
-
randyr
>you just started monerod
-
randyr
not really has been running for a few hours
-
moneromooo
Something's wrong then. Run "top", and post the third line (or second ? the one with "wa%" in it).
-
moneromooo
Also, run "status" in monerod, check it does have a few connections at least.
-
moneromooo
Also, run sync_info, post the line with lots of 'o', '.' characters in it.

-
randyr
this?
-
sech1
37.2 wa is very high
-
moneromooo
Yes. 37.2 is very high. Looks like your SSD is the bottleneck.
-
sech1
you SSD can't keep up
-
moneromooo
Is it connected via USB or other chicanery ?
-
randyr
nah just sata
-
sech1
it can be just old SSD
-
randyr
i do sync btc node too tho
-
sech1
sata? Yep, it's old and it's probably much slower than when it was new
-
moneromooo
1 year is much slower than a spinning disk would be though.
-
randyr
ill tinker some more and get back to you
-
randyr
ty tho
-
randyr
ssd seems shot
-
Infinity8
How would I start monerod at boot in Linux?
-
Infinity8
"./monerod --ban-list block.txt"
-
randyr
do you have systemd?
-
moneromooo
Usually, a new shell script in /etc/init.d that handles at least start and stop. If that directyry's empty, you're on your own.
-
Infinity8
randyr: yes
