<fr33_yourself:monero.social> could someone link to to the monero research lounge? \
-
m-relay
<fr33_yourself:monero.social> I was idle a ways back and was kicked from most of the rooms, but have since rejoined most
-
m-relay
<123bob123:matrix.org> Research lab?
-
m-relay
<fr33_yourself:monero.social> I rejoined lab, but was wondering if research lounge is still somewhat active

-
gravimatrix
apparently not
-
xx_raxer_xx
yeah
-
xx_raxer_xx
dats sad
-
xx_raxer_xx
we should make one
-
xx_raxer_xx

-
xx_raxer_xx
it
-
gravimatrix
you can ask libera.chat admins to give it to you if you stay long enough on the channel and people begin to use it
-
gravimatrix
or, you can just use ##monero-mining, if it's available. let me see
-
xx_raxer_xx
that dont exist
-
xx_raxer_xx
actually how do you even make a libera.chat channel
-
gravimatrix
just /join #channel-name
-
xx_raxer_xx
no such channel
-
gravimatrix
is just did it, I wrote "/join ##monero-mining" and hit enter
-
xx_raxer_xx
oh
-
xx_raxer_xx
there's no < and > ?
-
gravimatrix
none of that
-
xx_raxer_xx

-
xx_raxer_xx

<sadlittlewannabesamurai> is there any existential threat felt by the bitman XMR product
-
sech1
nope
-
m-relay
<sadlittlewannabesamurai> that's what i thought but just wanted to make sure
-
m-relay
<polar9669:matrix.org> Yes, moooo talked about pow change so core can break anything if and when they want 😂
-
m-relay
<polar9669:matrix.org> Omg Chinese made a cpu, let’s tweak it till they make next version of it
-
m-relay
<endor00:matrix.org> polar9669: you should practice your reading comprehension a little more, and then re-read moo's messages
-
m-relay
<polar9669:matrix.org> I read and those changes will be what it will be
-
m-relay
<endor00:matrix.org> None of the planned pow tweaks will have any significant impact on mining
-
m-relay
<endor00:matrix.org> And since bitmain's miner is (supposed to be) a cpu and not an asic, those tweaks won't impact them either
-
m-relay
<polar9669:matrix.org> No worries they will try to make it threadripper friendly till next rsic is out
-
m-relay
<endor00:matrix.org> I would suggest to go read the discussions that have already been had on the subject instead of pulling stuff out of your ass
-
m-relay
<endor00:matrix.org> But then again, if you had any interest in doing that, you probably wouldn't be here pulling stuff out of your ass
-
m-relay
<polar9669:matrix.org> I am bored
-
m-relay
<polar9669:matrix.org> Disregard anything is said
-
m-relay
<side-trips:matrix.org> I need advice on how to handle all the new moonbois jumping back in allofa sudden--I'm running out of reactions to the 'what if btc 100k next year?' obsessions
-
m-relay
<side-trips:matrix.org> I'm scared to even recommend a months worth of xmr like I use to lool
-
m-relay
<endor00:matrix.org> Just yell at them "BUYBUYBUY" and let them learn the hard way
-
m-relay
<side-trips:matrix.org> I just try to warn about the cbdcs
-
m-relay
<polar9669:matrix.org> Fortunately monero doesn’t attract many moonbois
-
m-relay
<polar9669:matrix.org> Months worth of xmr ? You mean emission? 12k xmr?
-
MaddieKalan
I made a subaddress and sent monero from my main address to my subaddress, can I then send the money from that subaddress to another wallet or have I fucked up by sending my selv monero? The goal was to do a churn (I think its called that).
-
MaddieKalan
monero*
-
MaddieKalan
I think I should have made a subaccount? I'm confused.
-
rbrunner
There should be no problem at all. Do you suspect there may be a problem, and if yes, why?
-
MaddieKalan
rbrunner: I type the balance command and still have the same amount of monero and I cannot find a way to switch address.
-
rbrunner
Well, yes, if you don't *actively* create an account, you won't get a new one automatically somehow. You still have 1 account, just now with 2 addresses, that go into the same balance
-
MaddieKalan
Also my show_transfers says "2968368 out - 2023-09-06 16:05:57 0.000000000000 redact 0000000000000000 0.001252560000 redact:0.046750379226 0 -" so I don't think anything was sent at all.
-
MaddieKalan
rbrunner: Can I specify that I want to sweap that subaddress once the balance has been unlocked?
-
rbrunner
That display is a bit confusing, but if you have a line at all there it means you sent yourself something, and you are now just lower by the fees that took
-
rbrunner
You can sweep the single output that you received there now
-
rbrunner
It's not trivial, and as far as I know only supported in the CLI wallet.
-
MaddieKalan
I think I fucked up, I was supposed to: send from mineing wallet to mineing wallet intermidiary then from intermidiary to spent wallet. I swept from mineing wallet main to its subaddress and want it to go from subaddress to spenting wallet but I think I was supposed to make a subaccount. Oh well.
-
rbrunner
Well, maybe your XMR are now not there where you wanted them to have, but nothing is lost except a little bit of fee ...
-
m-relay
<123bob123:matrix.org> Monero support!
-
m-relay
<123bob123:matrix.org> God its hard to decipher irc now
-
rbrunner
Please send your seed, I will arrange those outputs and accounts for you :)
-
m-relay
<123bob123:matrix.org> Irc ct ring signature
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> Yeah... Can they just fix the old bridge?
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> At that point it's easier to read IRC people on IRC directly
-
m-relay
<123bob123:matrix.org> Gonna have to run irc logs in parallel
-
m-relay
<123bob123:matrix.org> Tbh someone create css to fix guarantee funded before the css gets posted
-
m-relay
<xx_raxer_xx:matrix.org> what
-
m-relay
<xx_raxer_xx:matrix.org> also
-
m-relay
<xx_raxer_xx:matrix.org> i wonder why bridges dont exist in discord
-
m-relay
<xx_raxer_xx:matrix.org> i havent seen a discord to discord bridge ever
-

-
vdo

-
m-relay
<xx_raxer_xx:matrix.org> ye
-

-
m-relay
<123bob123:matrix.org> Got sent this? New or old?
-

-
m-relay
<xx_raxer_xx:matrix.org> damn

<xx_raxer_xx:matrix.org> actually not really
-
m-relay
<xx_raxer_xx:matrix.org> just move exchanges lmao
-
m-relay
<xx_raxer_xx:matrix.org> aint no way all exchanges banning it
-
m-relay
<polar9669:matrix.org> Highest liquidity, most instant exchanges use it
-
m-relay
<xx_raxer_xx:matrix.org> oh
-
m-relay
<xx_raxer_xx:matrix.org> then shit
-
m-relay
<polar9669:matrix.org> It’s ok, getting rid of binance will help price discovery
-
m-relay
<xx_raxer_xx:matrix.org> have any other exchanges banned it?
-
m-relay
<polar9669:matrix.org> Also they are just banning countries
-
m-relay
<polar9669:matrix.org> A few in last couple of years
-
m-relay
<xx_raxer_xx:matrix.org> there ARE still a lot of conventional exchanges right?
-
m-relay
<xx_raxer_xx:matrix.org> i don't want to have to rely on only localmonero since dat seems like the only p2p exchange
-
m-relay
<polar9669:matrix.org> For xmr ? Only a few cex
-
m-relay
<polar9669:matrix.org> Buy btc on bisq and get your xmr
-
m-relay
<xx_raxer_xx:matrix.org> damn
-

by install the monero gui wallet does it only launch the deamon server when i run the wallet or will it always be running in the background
-
m-relay
<endor00:matrix.org> Only when you run the wallet
-
m-relay
<endor00:matrix.org> And only if you're actually choosing to run a local node
-
m-relay
<endor00:matrix.org> It won't start the daemon if you configure it to use a remote node
