<crz:matrix.org> Hi!
-
m-relay
-
m-relay
<basses:matrix.org> thoughts?
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> There also CEX without KYC ;)
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> Like MEXC and TradeOgre
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> For 4. There is also FixedFloat that is quite reliable
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> And Trocador & intercambio that are kind of meta swapper (they look at many swapper and propose best rate)
-
m-relay
<basses:matrix.org> Thanks!
-
m-relay
-
m-relay
-
m-relay
<basses:matrix.org> it is on
monero.observer/blacklist
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> Is that one from that dude that "got it from Bisq": but never proved to fixed that he got it from Bisq?
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> Most if not all Swapper do that actually, even the one you listed
-
m-relay
-
ofrnxmr
Yep
-
ofrnxmr
Fixedfloat only has clean btc
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> Best place to get BTC without KYC...
-
ofrnxmr
For cash? Bisq or agoradesk
-
m-relay
<basses:matrix.org> >Most if not all Swapper do that actually, even the one you listed
-
m-relay
<basses:matrix.org> hmm every service you mentioned when looped up, there are threads of freeze incidents
-
ofrnxmr
hello, those swappers dont freeze, the exchange does
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> I mean, if you need to spend BTC or LN because the place you shop don't accept monero.
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> Or if you want to send BTC to a CEX, fixedfloat got you covered.
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> But yeah if you want to get btc from cash, you have to use bisq or agoradesk, but I would rather just use agoradesk/localmonero and get monero directly,
-
ofrnxmr
Theyre just front ends into kraken, binance etc
-
ofrnxmr
"I mean, if you need to spend BTC or LN because the place you shop don't accept monero." < yea, i used FF to get clean coins to spend
-
ofrnxmr
They never block xmr deposits
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> XMR are clean by default (assuming you did not steal them from binance to send them directly to the swapper or something like Eve-Alice-Eve)
-
m-relay
-
m-relay
<edge7:matrix.org> Maybe few using it. Worth posting anyway
-
snex
for anyone who mines, the xmrvsbeast hashrate raffle winners are now chosen using the monero blockhash as a seed rather than kernel.rand so they can be independently verified :)

<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> Hi. What is the correct chat room to get help. I cannot get past my firewall to download the Monero stuff
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> I am running Windows 11 Pro on a laptop
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> wdym by firewall?
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> You can't download or windows delete what you download?
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> I decided to shutdown the Windows firewall temporarily. I am now running Monero GUI. Restarting firewall now
-
m-relay
<jordan_sanchez:matrix.org> You can add app exclusions in Windows.
-
snex
mainstream "protection" tools will always report monero related things as malware
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> Sorry....you are talking to an old fart.....
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> Yeah, for the antivirus.
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> I did not know that the firewall could block it, never got me issue
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> not sure how to add the exclusions
-
m-relay
<jordan_sanchez:matrix.org> Are you using windows defender?
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> Open start menu
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> type exclusion...
-
m-relay
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> OK....I am on the page called Virus and Threat protection
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> click on "Manage settings" under Virus & threat protection settings
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> Then in the bottom, you can click on "Add or remove exclusions"
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> Then in there you can add exclusion and specify the folder of your monero stuff (like monero gui, feather wallet and xmrig)
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> Perfect....I did put stuff in a Monero folder.....so I can just add that....
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> OK....I see it in the list. the only thing in the list. 🙂
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> Thanks so much for your help!!
-
m-relay
<plowsof:matrix.org> to make things easier you should download the zip file of monero gui (if using that) and not the installer.exe
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> so I tried both, and ended up using the monero gui....I got lucky. I am now creating my wallet. Thanks again!!
-
m-relay
<plowsof:matrix.org> then you put that zip inside your already-excluded folder.. then you extract it in there (i've helped people in person who are unable to double click their mouse, instead they click..click and drag things around the screen so we need to know what level of 'old fart' you are)
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> I am LMAO
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> I am already running the GUI....all good.
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> but I am an old fart
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> I appreciate all the support y'all have provided. I would have like the Monero webiste to be a little more helpful....I struggled for a bit because the documentation was not clear on the steps necessary to overcome the firewall issue.
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> It just said, your firewall/anti-virus might be a problem
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> I have my recovery phase and now moving forward.....
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> Wallet is synchronizing.....looks like this will take a while....is that normal?
-
selsta
how many blocks remaining?
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> 3011939
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> 3006539
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> 3000703
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> will this thing timeout?
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> If my laptop screen goes to sleep will the synch stop?
-
m-relay
<randy.ambuel:matrix.org> Can I go take a nap (remember, I am an old fart)?
-
plowsof
laptop sleeping will top the sync yes. i assume you selected advanced mode?
-
m-relay
<plowsof:matrix.org> depending on your hardware specs it could take anywhere from an afternoon.. a day.. a week.. month... never to complete the process. having an SSD helps, alot.
-
snex
if you have an older machine it might be better to point it at a public node
