<ae:monero.social> well theres few client but they all lacks of features
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> Yeah, Element and it's fork are the one that sucks the less
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> (but they all sucks)
-
m-relay
<basses:matrix.org> nheko
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> nheko was the first client I tried (because it was actually made in c++... I think... been a while)
-
m-relay
<ae:monero.social> i don't use a mouse so
-
m-relay
<ae:monero.social> currently i use element web on qutebrowser
-
m-relay
<snex:matrix.xens.org> install the weechat plugin. itll be just like irc
-
m-relay
<snex:matrix.xens.org> you can even use it for both matrix and irc seamlessly
-
m-relay
<ae:monero.social> 5 commit in like 2 years
-
m-relay
-
m-relay
<ae:monero.social> there's also this
-
m-relay
<snex:matrix.xens.org> if it aint broke dont fix it
-
nioCat
features?
-
nioCat
I like words but will switch from IRC if they incorporate smells
-
nioCat
would be nice to smell 🍿
-
m-relay
<snex:matrix.xens.org> irc cant do this...
-
» m-relay <snex:matrix.xens.org> sends confetti 🎉
-
nioCat
🎉🎉
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> IRC also run just fine on 40 y-o hardware
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> don't need more than 256KB worth of ram (OS included)
-
m-relay
<snex:matrix.xens.org> why would i want 40 y/o hardware
-
nioCat
I sent 2 confetti , did u see it?
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> I just say it can. It's pretty efficient
-
m-relay
<snex:matrix.xens.org> your confetti does not populate the whole screen. need matrix for that
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> That's an advantage lol
-
nioCat
the whole screen? but my screen is massive
-
nioCat
amazing that Cat does not care for mice on the screen, only real ones
-
m-relay
<snex:matrix.xens.org> cant do this on irc either
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> Yeah, I put very long cats video with birds and all when I leave for long time. And I don't think they care or even watch at all.
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> But real birds... Cat make weird "segmented miaw" noises
-
nioCat
Cat was hunting mice in the dark and was making noises instead of being stealthy and I wondered why
-
nioCat
I guess scaring them out into the open
-
nioCat
seemed to work
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> Cat also make loud alarm miaw when she see big spiders evading under unreachable location
-
m-relay
<keepemup:matrix.org> What are the risks of using an untrusted remote node? Fee briefing, tcp traffic monitoring, can they mess with decoy selection or anything else?

Long time no speak. I'm trying to compile the Monero GUI wallet on FreeBSD, but compilation fails. Then I found another person who encountered the exact same problem with the same error:
l.opnxng.com/r/Monero/comments/15e1…ng_the_gui_wallet_fails_for_freebsd
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> fuck off
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> this is from irc
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> discord bridge is read only
-
sech1
hv-bridge is HashVault's discord and it's not read-only
-
m-relay
<123bob123:matrix.org> Yeah
-
remiliascarlet
m-relay: I'm not on Discord, and I won't fuck off.
-
plowsof
remiliascarlet m-relay doesnt show quotes so that wasnt directed at you
-
m-relay
-
remiliascarlet
plowsof: Oh, I see. Pretty confusing then.
-
remiliascarlet
I'm currently using the CLI wallet, and I'm still awaiting an answer to my GUI wallet question BTW, but how can I check whether I'm actually mining or not? Because `status` doesn't show any information about it, balance doesn't seem to change at all, and `start_mining` tells me I'm already mining.
-
selsta
remiliascarlet: enter mining_status on monerod
-
selsta
and I don't know your GUI related question, try asking it in #monero-gui
-
remiliascarlet
selsta: So in monerod instead of monero-cli-wallet? According to that, it seems like it's indeed mining, but at a ridiculously low hash rate.
-
remiliascarlet
Guess pool mining is going to be a lot better then.
-
selsta
what hash rate does it show? and what hashrate should your hardware have?
-
remiliascarlet
"what hash rate does it show?" `Mining at 462 H/s with 1 threads` "what hashrate should your hardware have?" How am I supposed to know that?
-
selsta
you can increase the number of threads
-
remiliascarlet
How?
-
selsta
you can look up what CPU you have on xmrig benchmark site
-
remiliascarlet
I can look it up a lot easier on my local machine.
-
remiliascarlet
`CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT (12) @ 3.793GHz`
-
selsta
start_mining 10
-
selsta
would be 10 threads
-
remiliascarlet
`Mining at 2.75 kH/s with 10 threads`
-
remiliascarlet
That's a huge difference.
-
selsta
you should set as many cores / threads your cpu has
-
remiliascarlet
I realized that, so I set to 12. `Mining at 3.16 kH/s with 12 threads`
-
selsta
but even with 3kH/s you likely won't find a block anytime soon
-
remiliascarlet
I'm aware, I mined on this machine before, although on a pool.
-
remiliascarlet
1 month was enough to give me 0.2 XMR and an electricity bill of 22,000 yen (was normally 9,000 yen at the time).
-
remiliascarlet
Nowadays my electricity bill is around 11,000 yen a month, but that's because of a beefy server park I have now, and didn't have back then.
