Never seen it accepted myself - only ones were BTC, XMR and maybe LTC.

BlueyHealer depending how busy on the network is the fees can get up to that. I think fees were probably around that in this instance. At that point it wasn't a cofactor for me. I just didn't want to use any fiat so was willing to pay
