how much ram does monerod need, is it possible to only have 1GB for public node?
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> the more ram the better
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> id recommend min 4gb (or better) 8-256gb
-
m-relay
<kevino:tchncs.de> i think he is running a vps
-
m-relay
<ki9:gf4.pw> ofrnxmr: For mining or just a node?
-
ofrnxmr
Just a node
-
ofrnxmr
Mining only needs a bit more than 2gb
-
ofrnxmr
Node needs ram for connected wallets to restore, finding decoys, and for incoming/outgoing txpool
-
ofrnxmr
Your ram increases depending on how many peers the node has. If the node is for personal use (~1 wallet connected at a time), and minimal p2p connections, you can get away with using less ram. A "public node" i would think implies public rpc or a well connected p2p node. Both of which should have ample amounts of ram. Not enough ram for
-
ofrnxmr
rpc(wallets) will cause for slow operation, and not enough for p2p can cause OOM during traffic spikes

<kewbit:matrix.org> It’s going to be mental having to run all these different nodes for different coins swapping
-
m-relay
<kewbit:matrix.org> Federated market makers of a particular might be a good solution to that
-
m-relay
<kewbit:matrix.org> Federated market makers of a particular coin might be a good solution to that
-
m-relay
<kevino:tchncs.de> it would take 4-5 hrs at most i think
-
m-relay
<kevino:tchncs.de> for first sync
-
m-relay
<kevino:tchncs.de> also monero remote node is supported but assuming you already have one
-
m-relay
<kevino:tchncs.de> also monero public node is supported but assuming you already have one
-
m-relay
<kewbit:matrix.org> If you amalgamate liquidity into specific federations you then solved the monopoly problem and you solve the inefficiencies of running too many nodes possibly
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> Kewbit, talking about bsx?
-
m-relay
<kewbit:matrix.org> I will try and atomicswpa today, what’s the liquidity like on it and fees?
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> charuto: youre alive? Whats going on with -markets
-
m-relay
<kevino:tchncs.de> no fees , only network fees that you send your coins with
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> The fees are the tx fee
-
m-relay
<kewbit:matrix.org> I’m taking about the greater picture of swaps, not what you’re working on specifically.
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> there is no centralized fee
-
m-relay
<kevino:tchncs.de> some offers are in minus spread too
-
m-relay
<kevino:tchncs.de> means you earn a spread by taking that offer
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> I think stuff like unstoppable doesnt require running nodes, and instead trusts the network as verified by someone elses node
-
m-relay
<kevino:tchncs.de> heavy demand for monero
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> Bsx runs nodes for the pairs that tou want to swap, and uses those nodes to locally verify that the coins have arrived, been confirmed, etcetc
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> Yeah, monero offers disappear fast
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> There was 100+xmr on there a coupke days ago, but down to ~5 yesterday
-
m-relay
<kevino:tchncs.de> nobody took my litecoin
-
m-relay
<kevino:tchncs.de> i am offering it at 0.5% below market rate
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> 😭 lolol. Yea. Ltc only sells when xmr ppl need to cash out. After kraken delisting, i think ltc offers will get taken faster
-
m-relay
<kewbit:matrix.org> I’ll take $200 of it for USDT 😂
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> no usdt / eth on bsx yet, must send xmr
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> If you have xmr, there is a good amount of ltc liquidity
-
nioCat
You can cash out dirty ltc?
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> Yea
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> ive never heard of ltc being flagged unless you sent it directly from an mweb address
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> They only care about btc, eth and stablecoins afaict
-
m-relay
<kewbit:matrix.org> It’s the only way to build trust 🤟🏿
-
m-relay
<kewbit:matrix.org> I want some filthy LTC
-
m-relay
<kewbit:matrix.org> Give me the dirtiest LTC you have
-
m-relay
<kewbit:matrix.org> For 10% below BMR and I’ll do $1k
-
m-relay
<kewbit:matrix.org> Actually I’m not trading in here
-
Juliu
Hi guys
-
m-relay
<asurar0:monero.social> Hello.
-
m-relay
<asurar0:monero.social> I've been suddenly disconnected from #monero-dev and I can't join back. I need an invite.
-
m-relay
<recanman:kernal.eu> It says user is already in the room
-
m-relay
<asurar0:monero.social> That is weird. I just get: `MatrixError: [403] You are not invited to this room.`
-
m-relay
<recanman:kernal.eu> Hmm
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> Which room
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> Oh dev
-
m-relay
<recanman:kernal.eu> monero-dev
-
m-relay
<recanman:kernal.eu> ofrn, can you try to invite me there as well? Whenever I send a message it fails...
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> Diego Salazar: plowsof @plowsof:matrix.org:
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> Dev permission dont allow users to send invites
-
m-relay
<asurar0:monero.social> This seems to be an issue with my account as #monero channel is taking several minutes to load.
-
m-relay
<asurar0:monero.social> And refreshing the page wipe it from the sidebar.
-
m-relay
<asurar0:monero.social> Can a moderator try to kick me from #monero-dev channel ?
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> plowsof ATTACK BAN!
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> Using element? Clear cache
-
m-relay
<asurar0:monero.social> I already attempted to clear cache, logged out and logged in 3 different browsers.
-
m-relay
<asurar0:monero.social> #monero appears in my sidebar as a room named `ofrnxmr and SyntheticBird`
-
m-relay
<jeffro256:monero.social> Ah yes, our 2 upstanding community members
-
m-relay
<asurar0:monero.social> Thank you SyntheticBird
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> Always a pleasure to help as one of the most upstanding community members.
