can a HDD keep pace with Monero blockchain?

too much I/O activity, which slows down the computer

i have a HUS722T1TALA600 that i can dedicate to the cause

started a sync, it says it will be finished in a week

SSDs are more suited for fast I/O heavy activities than HDDs

(at the cost of lifespan, buuut that's a problem for another day :P)
