br-m<datahoarder> You'd be surprised that they not only work both ways but that it also supports extended color codes and RGB ones > <Cindy> DataHoarder: how does the matrix bridge handle IRC colors
-
br-m<datahoarder> In case of Matrix to IRC it is a "best effort" I only produce 64 colors, not rgb
-
br-m<datahoarder> It maps to similarity
-
br-m<datahoarder> In linear rgb space afaik, if not it should be linear
-
br-m<datahoarder> I don't convert to XYZ or other absolute colorimetry though. Not that high effort

br-m<leonarth_:matrix.org> hi guys, anyone uses Ledger here? I'm sending a transaction from Monero GUI, though the address I see on the ledger is different than the one I see on Monero GUI, is that normal?
-
br-m<321bob321> Normal
-
br-m<321bob321> @plowsof
-
br-m<leonarth_:matrix.org> @321bob321: how so?
-
br-m<321bob321> Can't remember why
-
moneromooooIf it was an integrated address, the GUI probably presents it as the underlying address.
-
moneromooooIntegrated addresses are longer than normal addresses (they're a mashup of an address and extra data with some glue).
-
br-m<leonarth_:matrix.org> moneromoooo: I'm sending from Ledger to a monero address, though the address shown on ledger is different than the one I want to send to
-
moneromooooI saw that. That's what I was replying to even.
-
br-m<leonarth_:matrix.org> so it's normal, I should be confident sending this transaction even if the addresses don't match
-
br-m<angled:matrix.angled.rip> @leonarth_:matrix.org: send a small amount and see if it ends up in some random person's wallet :)
-
moneromooooIf you're in the case I mentioned, yes.
-
moneromooooIf you want to check, you can run "integrated_address X" in monero-wallet-cli, replacing X with the address from ledger.
-
br-m<leonarth_:matrix.org> I'm sending to address starting w/ 4Hja but the Ledger devices shows I'm sending to an address starting 4Brj
-
moneromooooIf it replies with the address you see in the GUI, it's good (barring malware faking it).
-
br-m<leonarth_:matrix.org> what is this integrated address thing? an intermediary address to not show the real destination?
-
moneromooooIntegrated addresses are longer than normal addresses (they're a mashup of an address and extra data with some glue).
-
br-m<leonarth_:matrix.org> moneromoooo: understood, though seeing that makes it harder to detect if we're sending to the real address or that some malware changed our destination address
-
br-m<leonarth_:matrix.org> also it's not easy to copy such a long string from Ledger small display into monero-wallet-cli to check it
-
moneromooooMy recollection is a bit hazy, but IIRC when the GUI gets a tx from the ledger, it might not be able to deduce the original address as the payment id (what's in the mashup along with the address) will be encrypted in the tx and thus hidden from the decoder.
-
moneromooooThe GUI could use some persistent data to remember, but since it's considered pwned, maybe there's not that much point in the first place.
-
moneromoooo(since if it's pwned, it could display the right address even if it's not what the tx from ledger says)
-
moneromooooBut yes, not user friendly, I do agree.
-
br-m<leonarth_:matrix.org> I was using monero-wallet-gui from Nix packages, made me panic and download from getmonero.org and verify the bz2 sha :D
-
br-m<leonarth_:matrix.org> seeing another address than the one I'm sending to
-
DataHoarderYou can decode the integrated address
-
DataHoarderTo show the address it'd be shown in ledger
-
DataHoarder
-
DataHoarderIt always has the wrong cert
-
DataHoarderPut it on check address
-
DataHoarderIf the address on ledger is the one shown on field 15 that is the proper target (minus payment id which the integrated address contains)
-
br-m<leonarth_:matrix.org> thank you guys, appreciate the insights <3
-
br-m<rbrunner7> My own website can also analyze an integrated address. Positive: No expired certificate. Negative: It's server based, the server gets to hear the address you input there. I have some other "toys" there as well: monerotech.info/Home/Address
-
br-m<zombie:catgirl.cloud> @rbrunner7: You sure?
-
br-m<rbrunner7> I hope so ... I built the site myself ... and just checked the certificate now?
-
br-m<ohchase:envs.net> Is it possible to figure out if a public rpc is running a pruned or full node through the get_info or some rpc endpoint?
-
br-m<ohchase:envs.net> looks like the database size attribute being close to 250gb would confirm it's a full node not pruned but am not sure
-
br-m<zombie:catgirl.cloud> @rbrunner7: Nice just making sure. Keep up the good work.
-
Anonomys25Still sucks Monero pools had to move to rizon. I miss those cool basterd
-
Anonomys25bastards*
-
BlueyHealerAnd how is it doing there?
-
Anonomys25BlueyHealer well, from my times visiting, they seem to be doing alright, though less active
-
BlueyHealerSo again, what happened there?
-
Anonomys25Oh, you mean when they were here?
-
Anonomys25Well, when they were on libera, I guess they violated some rules, and were warned many times. The ops of the channel tried their best to keep the channel alive, but they ended up getting entirely banned and removed off of libera. Now anytime anyone attempts to join the pools channel here, you will get a you are banned message. I feel like more had
-
Anonomys25happened, but ofc She wont tell me
-
Anonomys25Either way, point is, they no longer exists on this channels. The members? Sure, but the whole channel can't be accessed
-
BlueyHealerThe last part I know, yeah
-
DataHoarderAnonomys25: se
-
DataHoardersome members were also limited later
-
DataHoarderThey moved to offtopic
-
DataHoarderGot quieted, later auto klined by libera
-
Anonomys25DataHoarder they moved to an offtopic channel?
-
Anonomys25oh
-
DataHoarderYeah. Some people that didn't go to rizon
-
DataHoarderI ended up not bridging their messages as it mostly got feeding from Matrix side
-
Anonomys25ah, I see
-
DataHoarderBridge is also bound by the same Swedish law irregardless
-
DataHoarderFunny thing. This person mentioned "I'm not using Swedish servers I'm not bound by those laws!!!" (They were connected to a Stockholm, Sweden IRC server)
-
Anonomys25lol
-
DataHoarderReconnected
-
DataHoarderWent to one in Malmo
-
DataHoarderIt's not relevant as it's the superset of operator+servers anyhow
