Did a quick check, they accept Monero

-
BlueyHealer
That is ridiculously overpriced though, even for the gimmick
-
br-m
<bd1472172:matrix.org> BlueyHealer: Fighting for our own privacy is hard and expensive. No wonder 8 billion people give it up for free.
-
BlueyHealer
But this one is egregiously so.
-
BlueyHealer
I think there are other non-KYC esim providers that are expectedly expensive but not THIS ridiculously so
-
BlueyHealer
Also your tone kkinda sounds like "lol they're stingy" instead of people just being plain poor. Like, I'm NOT poor, way above poverty line - I would not have been able to afford that regardless of desire.
-
br-m
<hooftly:matrix.org> $35 for unlimited anon talk and text seems reasonable to me. In Canada I pay $85 CAD for a mobile plan and that is standard here
-
BlueyHealer
$35 is not an unaffordable sum in a vacuum - it's just egregious for a PHONE SERVICE.
-

*for a PRIVATE phone service

br-m
<hooftly:matrix.org> BlueyHealer: Where are you getting unlimited talk and text even with KYC for $35 a month though? I know I am getting raped though im just curious
-
BlueyHealer
I haven't seen my carrier offer plans above $10. KYC though, as per law. But I guess KYCless would be roughly similar given that they're just normal plans resold.
-
BlueyHealer
I don't know whether the world has adapted to the law where you have to show passport when filling the balance with cash, though. I don't have enough courage to ask around. Like, entirely possible - "gray" sims are sold so maybe people also offer to fell the balances too...
-
br-m
<hooftly:matrix.org> 10 bucks seems crazy to me if you are getting unlimited talk and text but im paying $85/month so im conditoned to think that is normal which it is not apparently lol
-
nioc
they show an unlimited talk and text for $25 with 2GB data
-
nioc
there are plans in the US for cheaper, depending on how much you prepay
-
nioc
major carriers yeah I guess $85
-
nioc
I think everyone gives unlimited talk and text, data is what you pay for
-
BlueyHealer
I am not sure they're unlimited, but the limits are pretty big. I have 10 (15?) gigs, so I am on a cheaper plan.
-
BlueyHealer
2GB is laughable, especially for f****** $25
-
BlueyHealer
Oh, looking at the cheapest plan and it is not even that. It's $25/mo AND pay per data you use? wtf
-
BlueyHealer
Also autopay-only? I haven't seen crypto autopayment...
-
nioc
didn't see autopay for the $25 plan lol
-
nioc
I assumed the 2GB was included but I guess need to check more closely
-
BlueyHealer
I may be missing something but it is worded like the $25 is not for anything in particular. I guess this exists to make the next tier look better (which is $35).

<gan:skhron.org> Don't like all those WHMCS-powered hosters, they're usually very amateurish operators, I already had to deal with Incognet before
-
br-m
-
BlueyHealer
WHMCS? What's that?
-
BlueyHealer
redsh4de: and do you have specific recommendations out of there?
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> out of all i've used njalla and incognet and had a good experience
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> but that was years ago
-
br-m
<gan:skhron.org> @redsh4de:matrix.org: For Incognet, Zach of unredacted.org had serious issues with their hosting and support, personally I've used them for domain registration, I had issues where I couldn't change domain records for hours on end during a stressful situation (the final raid of UrDN, and its shutdown by the national police [... too long, see

-
br-m
<gan:skhron.org> As for Njalla, I've heard that they overtake domains (usually nazi-related stuff), but for supposed other reasons I'm not inclined to believe random people from the internet who don't have any social capital
-
BlueyHealer
UrDN? What's that?

<weiningerenjoyer99:matrix.org> There's any payment gateway for Monero?
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> @weiningerenjoyer99:matrix.org: some listed on Monerica:
monerica.com/merchant-services/integrations
-

<redsh4de:matrix.org> BTCPayServer also has a Monero plugin

<gan:skhron.org> Otto Weininger. 🚬
-
br-m
<ufo808:matrix.org> @weiningerenjoyer99:matrix.org: It’s actually relatively easy to implement using only python and monero-wallet-rpc
-
br-m
<gan:skhron.org> BTCPayServer is what I usually see being used for in-house processing of transactions in various places
-
br-m
<ufo808:matrix.org>

-
br-m
<torir:matrix.org> Did you just... accept with zero confirmations?
-
br-m
<torir:matrix.org> I guess you can delay withdrawals until the deposit is confirmed.
-
br-m
<ufo808:matrix.org> @torir:matrix.org: Yes, btcpayserver accepts mempool txs too
-
br-m
<ufo808:matrix.org> @torir:matrix.org: Yes
-
br-m
<torir:matrix.org> Just making sure you understood the risk. As long as you account for the chance someone will manage to undo a zero-conf transaction you're good.

> <br-m> <gan:skhron.org> As for Njalla, I've heard that they overtake domains
-
DataHoarder
yep. when they get a legal report, they take it, and do not disclose end user
-
DataHoarder
that is the contract to be compatible with registration laws
-
br-m
<gan:skhron.org> DataHoarder: I mean, that's pretty obvious in context of registrars, but I meant they do that in the context of legal "hate speech" as well
-
br-m
<basses:matrix.org> > yep. when they get a legal report, they take it, and do not disclose end user
-
br-m
<basses:matrix.org> not really, see kiwifarms case
-
br-m
<gan:skhron.org> @basses:matrix.org: Are you mistaking it with Epik?
-
br-m
<gan:skhron.org> Kiwifarms is also operated publicly for years, everyone knows who's Joshua Moon and where he located at
-
BlueyHealer
As far as I understand, Kiwifarms were an outright egregious case though
-
br-m
<gan:skhron.org> As much as I don't like Kiwifarms (there's good that comes from it), fundamentally it was dropped from various providers because of a harassment campaign, yet CF provides their services to websites which hosts imagery of animal rape, suicide discussion (SS forum) and so on, it was plainly cheap hypocritical moralism in context of kiwifarms
-
br-m
<gan:skhron.org> But it's irrelevant to the discussion, there's no information that Njalla could retain at all beside an email address, No KYC, and one could pay with Monero as well
-
BlueyHealer
When it comes to domains - I still don't quite understand just how risky it is to place believable enough fake info on the name/address/etc page, because even though it's normally hidden... It's way too sensitive to actually give out like this.
-
br-m
<gan:skhron.org> Any place that requires real information would do a KYC route one day, that's the risk
-
BlueyHealer
I mean I've seen some that require that but no KYC. That's pretty much every registrar except for the Njalla-likes.
