<datahoarder> You'd be surprised that they not only work both ways but that it also supports extended color codes and RGB ones > <Cindy> DataHoarder: how does the matrix bridge handle IRC colors
-
br-m
<datahoarder> In case of Matrix to IRC it is a "best effort" I only produce 64 colors, not rgb
-
br-m
<datahoarder> It maps to similarity
-
br-m
<datahoarder> In linear rgb space afaik, if not it should be linear
-
br-m
<datahoarder> I don't convert to XYZ or other absolute colorimetry though. Not that high effort

<leonarth_:matrix.org> hi guys, anyone uses Ledger here? I'm sending a transaction from Monero GUI, though the address I see on the ledger is different than the one I see on Monero GUI, is that normal?
-
br-m
<321bob321> Normal
-
br-m
<321bob321> @plowsof
-
br-m
<leonarth_:matrix.org> @321bob321: how so?
-
br-m
<321bob321> Can't remember why
-
moneromoooo
If it was an integrated address, the GUI probably presents it as the underlying address.
-
moneromoooo
Integrated addresses are longer than normal addresses (they're a mashup of an address and extra data with some glue).
-
br-m
<leonarth_:matrix.org> moneromoooo: I'm sending from Ledger to a monero address, though the address shown on ledger is different than the one I want to send to
-
moneromoooo
I saw that. That's what I was replying to even.
-
br-m
<leonarth_:matrix.org> so it's normal, I should be confident sending this transaction even if the addresses don't match
-
br-m
<angled:matrix.angled.rip> @leonarth_:matrix.org: send a small amount and see if it ends up in some random person's wallet :)
-
moneromoooo
If you're in the case I mentioned, yes.
-
moneromoooo
If you want to check, you can run "integrated_address X" in monero-wallet-cli, replacing X with the address from ledger.
-
br-m
<leonarth_:matrix.org> I'm sending to address starting w/ 4Hja but the Ledger devices shows I'm sending to an address starting 4Brj
-
moneromoooo
If it replies with the address you see in the GUI, it's good (barring malware faking it).
-
br-m
<leonarth_:matrix.org> what is this integrated address thing? an intermediary address to not show the real destination?
-
moneromoooo
Integrated addresses are longer than normal addresses (they're a mashup of an address and extra data with some glue).
-
br-m
<leonarth_:matrix.org> moneromoooo: understood, though seeing that makes it harder to detect if we're sending to the real address or that some malware changed our destination address
-
br-m
<leonarth_:matrix.org> also it's not easy to copy such a long string from Ledger small display into monero-wallet-cli to check it
-
moneromoooo
My recollection is a bit hazy, but IIRC when the GUI gets a tx from the ledger, it might not be able to deduce the original address as the payment id (what's in the mashup along with the address) will be encrypted in the tx and thus hidden from the decoder.
-
moneromoooo
The GUI could use some persistent data to remember, but since it's considered pwned, maybe there's not that much point in the first place.
-
moneromoooo
(since if it's pwned, it could display the right address even if it's not what the tx from ledger says)
-
moneromoooo
But yes, not user friendly, I do agree.
-
br-m
<leonarth_:matrix.org> I was using monero-wallet-gui from Nix packages, made me panic and download from getmonero.org and verify the bz2 sha :D
-
br-m
<leonarth_:matrix.org> seeing another address than the one I'm sending to
-
DataHoarder
You can decode the integrated address
-
DataHoarder
To show the address it'd be shown in ledger
-
DataHoarder
-
DataHoarder
It always has the wrong cert
-
DataHoarder
Put it on check address
-
DataHoarder
If the address on ledger is the one shown on field 15 that is the proper target (minus payment id which the integrated address contains)
-
br-m
<leonarth_:matrix.org> thank you guys, appreciate the insights <3
-
br-m
<rbrunner7> My own website can also analyze an integrated address. Positive: No expired certificate. Negative: It's server based, the server gets to hear the address you input there. I have some other "toys" there as well:
monerotech.info/Home/Address
-
br-m
<zombie:catgirl.cloud> @rbrunner7: You sure?
-
br-m
<rbrunner7> I hope so ... I built the site myself ... and just checked the certificate now?
-
br-m
<ohchase:envs.net> Is it possible to figure out if a public rpc is running a pruned or full node through the get_info or some rpc endpoint?
-
br-m
<ohchase:envs.net> looks like the database size attribute being close to 250gb would confirm it's a full node not pruned but am not sure
-
br-m
<zombie:catgirl.cloud> @rbrunner7: Nice just making sure. Keep up the good work.
-
Anonomys25
Still sucks Monero pools had to move to rizon. I miss those cool basterd
-
Anonomys25
bastards*
-
BlueyHealer
And how is it doing there?
-
Anonomys25
BlueyHealer well, from my times visiting, they seem to be doing alright, though less active
-
BlueyHealer
So again, what happened there?
-
Anonomys25
Oh, you mean when they were here?
-
Anonomys25
Well, when they were on libera, I guess they violated some rules, and were warned many times. The ops of the channel tried their best to keep the channel alive, but they ended up getting entirely banned and removed off of libera. Now anytime anyone attempts to join the pools channel here, you will get a you are banned message. I feel like more had
-
Anonomys25
happened, but ofc She wont tell me
-
Anonomys25
Either way, point is, they no longer exists on this channels. The members? Sure, but the whole channel can't be accessed
-
BlueyHealer
The last part I know, yeah
-
DataHoarder
Anonomys25: se
-
DataHoarder
some members were also limited later
-
DataHoarder
They moved to offtopic
-
DataHoarder
Got quieted, later auto klined by libera
-
Anonomys25
DataHoarder they moved to an offtopic channel?
-
Anonomys25
oh
-
DataHoarder
Yeah. Some people that didn't go to rizon
-
DataHoarder
I ended up not bridging their messages as it mostly got feeding from Matrix side
-
Anonomys25
ah, I see
-
DataHoarder
Bridge is also bound by the same Swedish law irregardless
-
DataHoarder
Funny thing. This person mentioned "I'm not using Swedish servers I'm not bound by those laws!!!" (They were connected to a Stockholm, Sweden IRC server)
-
Anonomys25
lol
-
DataHoarder
Reconnected
-
DataHoarder
Went to one in Malmo
-
DataHoarder
It's not relevant as it's the superset of operator+servers anyhow

br-m
<stormyyy:stormyyy.xyz> what the fuck does cum_difficulty mean in the monerod console logs???
-
br-m
<stormyyy:stormyyy.xyz> 💀
-
Anonomys25
._.
-
Anonomys25
-_-
-
Anonomys25
._.
-
Anonomys25
what
-
br-m
<gan:skhron.org> @stormyyy:stormyyy.xyz: I know how it'd sound, but cum is a common shortening for cumulat{ive,iton} obviously 🧌
-
Anonomys25
uh huh <_>
-
br-m
<gan:skhron.org> you know, cumulative difficulty
-
br-m
-
Anonomys25
Yes yes, I know its an actual word, having increased or increased quantity by successive additions :p
-
br-m
<gan:skhron.org> I know that the people are more accustomed to the word "accumulation" but hey, it wasn't me who put the word in
-
br-m
<stormyyy:stormyyy.xyz> oh okay 😭 > <@gan:skhron.org> I know how it'd sound, but cum is a common shortening for cumulat{ive,iton} obviously 🧌

<sylaie:nope.chat> Do you know what is going on with the monero network?
-
br-m
<sylaie:nope.chat> Some people are reporting that their transactions are not being confirmed.
-
br-m
<sylaie:nope.chat> Same thing happened to me
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> checking
-
br-m
<sylaie:nope.chat> Never happened to me before and I’ve been using it for years
-
sech1
mempool is full
-
br-m
-
sech1
it will clear eventually, but you will need to wait if you already sent a transaction
-
sech1
if you didn't, send it with a higher fee
-
br-m
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> Look like we got a bunch of fat transaction with a lot of inputs
-
DataHoarder
-
br-m
<sylaie:nope.chat> Thanks, it’s working again
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> It never stopped working 🫡
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Just had a 15mb backlog
-
nioc
I thought we had infinite blocks and infinite coins
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Only in lala land
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Max 30mb blocks for 50k blocks :(. Clearly racist. Also, people are too cheap to pay lvl 3 or 4 fees to raise the blocksize to 30mb anyway
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Monero is a scam. I was promised an unlimited block size.
-
br-m
<rbrunner7> Wow, network is busy. My daemon has 200 "in" connections for the first time, and it uploaded 80 GB in 14 hours.
-
br-m
<sylaie:nope.chat> Where can I see graphics like that? The Monero block explorers are very simple compared to Bitcoin ones
-
DataHoarder
there's
blocks.p2pool.observer for monero block/tx explorer. however, no charts
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> I uploaded about 80GB in the last 14 hours too (both nodes are similar)
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> RPC did not really change really. P2P stay at about 200 connections full time.
-
br-m
-
br-m
-
sech1
mempool cleared
-
br-m
<321bob321> Explains why my node went out of sync
-
br-m
<321bob321> Did it a couple of days ago to
-
br-m
<zombie:catgirl.cloud> @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: Don’t ever say such BS again.
-
br-m
<zombie:catgirl.cloud> Monero is the ways of the future.
-
br-m
<tradex:matrix.org> Hey
-
br-m
<stormyyy:stormyyy.xyz> @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: ??
-
br-m
<gan:skhron.org> That statement seems to be satiric and sarcastic?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> 100% serious. Definitely
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> The only part that may be considered debatable is the racism part
-
br-m
<tradex:matrix.org> @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: Okay
-
br-m
<tradex:matrix.org> Put us through
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> In regards to "monero is a scam, i was promised unlimited blocks", i forgot to put quotes and say that in paraphrasing some twitter tears
