does monero have good error messages? ran into a new low recently, nbd-client complaining there's not enough magic

didn't find anything about that on google, only another problem regarding "wrong magic"

so funny it makes me think of ditching the software for an alternative (iscsi)

That said, non trivial improvements to error reporting are likely to get merged.

Magic in a software context typically refers to hoped unique enough well known chunks of bytes used to detect some particular format.

So, I'd totally see a "wrong magic" error being "the data you asked me to process doesn't look to be the kind of data I need as first glance".

If it's supposed to be seen by non tech users, the rewording would be good.

isn't there a mining proxy that mines all the randomx coins profit switching? IIRC moneroocean was doing that at some point at least

I have such a proxy pool project I did myself, last used for a ghostrider miner pool paying out in litecoins. maybe could do a monero pool. the biggest reason I never got around to it is so far I worked only with wallet software that's cloned from bitcoin

so monero felt quite alien

I was right, monero would transition away from that mistake all coins seem to repeat before I could get my shit together and adapt my pool hopper for it. the situation was much more lucrative 2 years ago. im just too lazy

a pool hopping proxy is pretty similar to a profit switching one on the same coin, and sure the 2 strategies can even be combined. but with monero it seems mostly the profit switching (between coins on same algo) strategy remains.

running such a proxy on a scale significant to those coins but insignificant to monero should have a pretty predictable outcome to their value..
