it works differently than on coins with public outputs and addresses, there is no need to use unique sending addresses (if people are just looking at explorers/chain data)

"main (stealth) addresses" < I think you are confusing main address and stealth addresses

stealth address is something derived from a main address/sub address, and a per-tx key, which creates the per-tx stealth address. The sender does this.

they got limited and tried to bypass it, but then gave up

FCMP++ upgrade does limit tx extra a bit more (still allows reasonable usage)

current change is a relay/soft rule, so blocks can still appear with it fine, but FCMP++ will make that a consensus rule
