<bauxes:matrix.org> anyone know of a good amazon clone that uses monero?
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> @bauxes:matrix.org: use amazon gift card?
-
br-m
<bauxes:matrix.org> @ravfx:xmr.mx: no i mean a site i can just buy laptops for example straight with monero same way you would on tradfi. Is xmrbazaar the closet thing we have atm?
-
br-m
<jacoblightning3:matrix.org> @bauxes:matrix.org: we used to have a site called monazon but it shut down
-
br-m
<ricky.i2p:matrix.org> I am hoping it doesn't until 2030, I am trying to stack 100+ XMR before than little by little. It's not impossible now, but a little difficult > <@hughjank:matrix.org> Anyone got a funny feeling xmr is about to skyrocket and be out of reach to buy a coin soon?
-
br-m
<bauxes:matrix.org> @jacoblightning3:matrix.org: whats the bottleneck? KYC? I feel like there should be some big players for at least electronics given monero's usecase. You'd think xmr marketplaces like facebook marketplace equivalents would be all over the place
-
br-m
<jacoblightning3:matrix.org> @bauxes:matrix.org: I'm not actually sure. I started using monero after it shut down. I just heard about it
-
br-m
<bauxes:matrix.org> @ricky.i2p:matrix.org: i hope we still haven't seen the true black swan of this cycle still betting on drastically lower prices for dca
-
br-m
<bauxes:matrix.org> @jacoblightning3:matrix.org: did it shut down recently? do you know if it was shut down by feds or owners vanished
-
br-m
<jacoblightning3:matrix.org> @bauxes:matrix.org: It was over a year ago and idk
-
br-m
<ricky.i2p:matrix.org> @bauxes:matrix.org: I hope so too. I think the price will increase to a point of no return once normies find out that BTC, CBDC, and most other cryptos are like flock cameras for finances
-
br-m
<bauxes:matrix.org> @ricky.i2p:matrix.org: right there with you, the normies are at the thought process of blockchain = bitcoin = public. VAST majority have no idea what monero or a CBDC is. Or why they should care and that cash is most likely on the way out in most places around the world.
-
br-m
<bauxes:matrix.org> With the current state of crypto and the outlook of the world i think monero is the only crypto currency in the way most people assume a crypto currency would behave. Its private and encrypted by default and decentralized and once people realize why that matters from things tht affect them in daily life these XMR prices will rival sol after ftx
-
br-m
<bauxes:matrix.org> in a post cbdc world what other options at scale are prepared to onboard the world and resilient enough to withstand what comes with it other then monero?
-
br-m
<ricky.i2p:matrix.org> It is one of the only assets in the world immune to Civil Asset Forfeiture if secured correctly
-
br-m
<bauxes:matrix.org> the only leverage fiat has over xmr is that currently we are trying to drive cars on horse gravel roads and the off ramp is the issue. But once more people get tired of using the closed net aka X, instagram, etc then more and more people will use XMR and once you can live daily life with xmr its to late to be early and dca like we are doing now
-
br-m
<bauxes:matrix.org> hence i hope this is a long bear with some major crash coming
-

<peachass:matrix.org> Hey guys

<peachass:matrix.org> im waiting for my damn powersupply and cpu coolers to power my xeon rig, ill launch it today
-
br-m
<peachass:matrix.org> @bauxes:matrix.org: do you mine?
-
br-m
<bauxes:matrix.org> @peachass:matrix.org: not atm but I'm going to get around to it sooner or later, assuming the rig mentioned previously is for mining?
-
br-m
<peachass:matrix.org> @bauxes:matrix.org: nice!
-
br-m
<peachass:matrix.org> yes mining
-
br-m
<peachass:matrix.org> im also gonna run a node, will take some time doe cause id need a big ssd lol currently the only i have free is 250 gb im using for mining
-
br-m
<bauxes:matrix.org> @peachass:matrix.org: what's your long term outlook on mining? Are you stacking to hodl or trying to profit from the mining short term? which is better in your opinion
-
br-m
<peachass:matrix.org> Im not doing it for profit and i believe people should change their fundamental thinking about Monero, the Financial system has fried peoples brains into thinking all this is just some sort of investment and get rich quick thing..
-
br-m
<peachass:matrix.org> I own Monero because I believe it can turn the Table and give power back to the people.
-
br-m
<peachass:matrix.org> Sure i feel the fomo, but Ive fomoed so much previously into random shitcoins that I honestly dont care about monero price action.[... more lines follow, see

<peachass:matrix.org> is there anyone thinking like me or yall in just for profits lol
-
br-m
<bauxes:matrix.org> @peachass:matrix.org: Im on the same page and felt some similar growing pains of fomo thorough the cycles. That reminds me of the nft boom in 2021 ended up fomoing heavy and ridding pumps all for it to come to 0 basically other then a few but even blue chips dropped 80-90%
-
br-m
<bauxes:matrix.org> Im in Monero mostly because I see it as a logical next step for the evolution of finance. Esp with the world moving closer and closer to global CBDC's and with Bitcoin being all but seized by nation states and major industrial players. I believe XMR gives the people to rally and preserve the way of financial Sovereignty despite the efforts of Governments to make it a distant memory.
-
br-m
<bauxes:matrix.org> Of course the profit is a part of it id be shocked if in a decade XMR isn't 70b plus mc being generous I think it has the propertys to one day flip BTC in terms of raw utility and value in the world we are heading in I dont see any other coin and community having what it takes to withstand the world we are heading into.[... more lines follow, see

<bauxes:matrix.org> I do also of course think other protocols need to exist for obvious reasons unless we get a hyperliquid lvl dex fully native to monero. In lame mans terms I see Monero replacing cash on a global lvl being the last mean of widely recognized currency you can move P2P anon

<absinthium:4d2.org> actually I don't need to ask. everything with everything is amazing.

<ricky.i2p:matrix.org> From the official Moneropedia: "'Pruning' allows node operators to save 2/3 of storage space while keeping the full transaction history. Pruning works by removing 7/8 of unnecessary ring signature data. The 1/8 remaining data will be available to the other nodes and will be used to sync with the network. -
br-m
<monero.arbo:matrix.org> Although we didn't catch the most recent pump, I'm actually impressed with the price action lately and appreciate that Monero has become somewhat decoupled from the crypto market at large. It makes it an effective counter to my BTC holdings, on top of being a great way to buy BTC
-
br-m
<monero.arbo:matrix.org> I imagine that if FCMP rolls out smoothly we will see a lot more upside. It's a really big upgrade, just in terms of how much changes, so any investor paying any attention would be right to be somewhat wary of it
-

<pw:xmr.mx> @monero.arbo:matrix.org wouldn't say its terrible. wouldn't be surprised if a lot of XMR was sold with this current pump.

<ricky.i2p:matrix.org> Does anyone else feel worried that ETH will be used as the base network for some countries' CBDC implementation?
-
br-m
<pw:xmr.mx> not worried at all but it may be in the states where trump and his minions have insane investments. but we all know how much of a loose cannon he is and can't run for another term, but let's not get in to politics here
-
br-m
<ricky.i2p:matrix.org> Agreed, the left wing and right wing are connected to the same bald eagle that runs the country

br-m
<bauxes:matrix.org> anyone tried using monero with reticulum?
-
br-m
<absinthium:4d2.org> @bauxes:matrix.org: I saw there was some sort of implementation on github
-
br-m
<bauxes:matrix.org> @absinthium:4d2.org: did u get a chance to look into it? Running monero over mesh / reticulum is the logical next step in our privacy stacks reducing reliance on nationstates / isp's so I imagine there must be decent progress on the implementation
-
br-m
<absinthium:4d2.org> @bauxes:matrix.org: I didn't look into it. As far as I know the main LoRa stuff being using for reticulum and meshtastic are too slow to sync blocks or operate away from normal internet. I think it would be brilliant to be able to do this, I agree, but I think it requires radio transmission in illegal frequencies, which is [... too long, see
mrelay.p2pool.observer/e/zLWGqaMLX3BSQmFH ]
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> I did not know how slow reticulum was. But for sure any Lora stuff is no go, even the fastest offering
-
br-m
<absinthium:4d2.org> @ravfx:xmr.mx: technically reticulum can actually be very fast. its just there needs to be a medium for it to use, and LoRa isn't it.
-
br-m
<absinthium:4d2.org> this is the one I came accross. I have no idea if it worked / still works: > <@bauxes:matrix.org> did u get a chance to look into it? -
br-m
-
br-m
<eravsar:raubritter.org> it is not about having monero over lora, it is about getting rid of the reliance on ISP issued IPs by abstracting it out. you can still have everything over internet but in case something happens you will have the infrastructure to move fast. monero's p2p being over clearnet is a big risk. they can just target those IPs to shu [... too long, see
mrelay.p2pool.observer/e/o8_IqaMLdEp0dFZj ]
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> Monero main should be to continue to be monero on main internet.
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> But yet, all L2 should be supported (at least the one that are fast enough).
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> My node are still connecteable on Yggdrasil (if I did not break anything, I don't monitor that part)
-
br-m
<eravsar:raubritter.org> @ravfx:xmr.mx: i am talking about p2p traffic, not daemon rpc. after there is a good enough stack the whole main p2p can run over a protocol like reticulum, at least as a fallback.
-
br-m
<eravsar:raubritter.org> otherwise they can just target all the monero peers, make a law to ban monero nodes by calling it some AML bullshit, and just target everyone who runs a node. like see
monero.fail/map
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> P2P on alternate network could be nice indeed
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> tor cand be used I think
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> but it will only talk to tor node or something
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> @ravfx:xmr.mx: Yeah, just not for incoming connections
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> It will make connections to ipv4(or ipv6) nodes
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> I wonder how hard it would be to make it ygg aware (if the computer have ygg IPv6 range, also connect on ygg IPs). Like automagically
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> I think 2xx: and 3xx: are only ygg right?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> the issue is probably just peerlists
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> And address validation. If you run --proxy=<ygg-socks-proxy> --add-exclusive-node=ygg-node, i imagine it would work
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> there is no need of ygg socks proxy
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> that's the point, it's just an interface with an ipv6
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> so it can be reached from clearnet?
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> ygg ips could be mixed with the rest of the peerlist without issue, if the nodes could validate, do I have an ip that start with 2xx:: or 3xx::? no? SKIP!
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> yes, connect!
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: non, but when you run yggdrasil, you get a new interface with a 2xx or 3xx ipv6.
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> all ygg services are in that specific range
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> you use it like you would use anything else (just connect to the ip, no proxy needed)
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> How does the client know how to connect / forward to the ygg interface?
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> how the client know to forward traffic to your 10.x.x.x ip?
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> I would say, by the routing table
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> dns
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> that's for domain name
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Or a proxy
-
br-m
<muffin:catgirl.cloud> @ravfx:xmr.mx: not just for that
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> @ravfx:xmr.mx: i use hosts file to attach domain names to obscure ips :P
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> type "ip route -6 -n"
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> If you use domain you need extra shenanigans yes, but do monero p2p use dns (other than getting the banlist?)
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> There is something 200: therefor ygg work and any ygg ip I try to connect will just work
-
br-m
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> Tor and i2p need address, that's different indeed.
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> And I have no idea for reticulum
-
br-m
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> Ah yeah, the ygg it still alive lol
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> so I think ygg only start with 200: or 300: (not 2xx/3xx)
-
br-m
<absinthium:4d2.org> @eravsar:raubritter.org: ah, true. but it would be cool to remove ISPs entirely from the picture, or at least have this as backup
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> @absinthium:4d2.org: Good luck with that.
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> Get the cable box ready!!!!
-
br-m
<absinthium:4d2.org> hey I can dream. in theory the work to implement reticulum could be done and later work could be done to figure out a way to transfer data w/o isps
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> I asked the clanker and apparently reticulum don't give directly addressable IPs so you can't just connect to eet
-
br-m
