I just started mining today. I was hesitant at first because I have “little” hashing power.
-
libre[m]
I wanted to share with you what changed my mind
-
libre[m]
So. I only have about 5KH/s. I thought it was a waste of my time and resources to mine only 0.001 xmr per day.
-
libre[m]
But then I thought. If I really believe in a future where monero replaces bitcoin wouldn’t you want to be mining the equivalent to 100,000 sats per day?
-
libre[m]
Then it was a no brainer. I just made the sat parity. I really believe monero to be a better Bitcoin. So instead of thinking of my xmr in dollar terms I thought about them in sat parity terms.
-
libre[m]
Now I regret not starting mining months ago 😂

libre[m]: How is your power consumption going?
-
libre[m]
No idea. The utilities come included in rent. So for my case it doesn’t matter… yet
-
Torr
Very nice

<libre[m]> "So. I only have about 5KH/s. I..." <- Is it a dual core pc? What are the specs
-
libre[m]
I had two pre m1 MacBook pros that were sitting idle
-
libre[m]
8-core intel i9 2.3ghz. Maybe I’ll turn them into Linux this weekend to get more juice out of them
-
libre[m]
Now that I’m hooked with the sats xmr parity idea
-
entry1[m]
Gotcha, hey may as well. $73 in today's dollars annually. Could be $1k in the future, may as well. Or just sell one and buy some lol
-
bridgerton[m]
<donkeyballs> suggestion, mine on
mini.p2pool.io with low HR
-
entry1[m]
I would like to do some small mining for fun too
-
libre[m]
What computer do you have?

p2pool.io/mini/#pool with low HR/
-
libre[m]
CPU wise
-
bridgerton[m]
<donkeyballs> if you have newer AMD procs, you'll get higher HR than Intel
-
libre[m]
I’ve seen that but I gotta buy new hardware for that. I like the idea of putting idle stuff to work. May not be worth much today. But sure as hell will be worth a lot tomorrow.
-
entry1[m]
I only have super dated spec stuff so I would definitely be losing with electricity, but it would be fun to do it
-
bridgerton[m]
<donkeyballs> I mine with several different types of procs, for instance VM's running on Xeon E5-2680 v2 using 8-cores (DDR3-1866 RAM) gets around 3.5KH/s. AMD Ryzen 5 3500X 6-Core (DDR4-3600 RAM) gets 4KH/s, AMD Ryzen 9 5950X (DDR4-3600 RAM) gets 17KH/s
-
entry1[m]
Very nice. Super nice for people who got good deals on the hardware or bought pre-covid or even 2021 lol
-
bridgerton[m]
<donkeyballs> actually, since AMD Zen4 is coming in 2022, Zen3 proc prices have dropped
-
bridgerton[m]
<donkeyballs> just purchased a AMD Ryzen 9 (Zen3) 5950X build for $1200 on newegg this month
-
bridgerton[m]
<eli> Lmao that's not implicit bias that's explicit bias aka racism
-
entry1[m]
<bridgerton[m]> "<donkeyballs> just purchased a..." <- Nice. How much for the entire build?
-
libre[m]
<entry1[m]> "I only have super dated spec..." <- For fun and securing the network via p2pool. The other interesting part is there is a hash raffle where you get boosted by 5KH/s in p2pool.
-
bridgerton[m]
<donkeyballs> are you sure the XvB raffle boost is only 5KH/s in p2pool? I've received many 3MH/s boosts in p2pool.io/mini in the last couple weeks
-
libre[m]
I didn't have the exact amount on my mind lol I guess I rounded it up for practical purposes
-
libre[m]
Monero being mentioned again on "What Bitcoin Did" in super good light btw

Latest episode. The guest ask the host "What technology solves centralization, censorship, ever changing laws?". Peter answers: "1 for sureee.. and argument for Monero"
-
bridgerton[m]
<donkeyballs> <libre> About XvB raffle, I think you missed what I said. I received several 3000KH/s (3MH/s) boosts in p2pool.io/mini in the last couple weeks
-
libre[m]
I did missed that, holy shit that's a lot.

bridgerton[m]
<donkeyballs> yeah, definitely was fun to watch shares start rolling in like mad
-
libre[m]
I know Monero doesn't need any government permission nor it wants it but

What's your prediction on which country is gonna be the first to make it legal tender

I think I just found the perfect place

The United Nations recognized the Esperanto Language in Uruguay.
-
libre[m]
Uruguay has a 97% green energy supply. So we can mine there without issue. Plus, it's next to Argentina (high demand for non-inflationary assets). And the fact that it is in Latam can provide competition to Bitcoin dominance in the region.

That's a very well made article escapethe3ra[m], and I even like the way it prints on paper. I did that from curiosity (printed to PDF.)

does anyone know who runs localmonero?

thank you

Not sure it is the Alex in here, but in reddit they are alex_localmonero or something
