That is to say, an improvement from pure chance to 13% based off of a training set of predetermined transactions seems like any 'AI' would latch on to the whole tail weighting thing inherent in the imout distribution

I guess my question is what heuristic the AI is adapting to, exactly. It feels like that kind of improvement would be easily achievable with basic heuristics that work because the input age distributions are intentionally not uniformly randomly selected

(And as such feels like a local maxima trap)

I would be curious to see the outcome if this was rerun with two super basic heuristics. The first being 'discard the oldest two transactions and randomly select from the remaining ones' and the second being 'always select the most recent one'

xmrack tried not to give the algorithm an advantage in the timing of transactions. In an earlier version of the dataset, the transactions were constructed very rapidly and timing was a big factor.

We already know that timing is an issue from Kumar et al. (2017) and Moser et al. (2018) and my own work. There was no need to replicate it further.

Furthermore, the effectiveness of temporal analysis is about to plunge once OSPEAD is estimated and deployed.
