-
onespan1831[m]
hey guys, need some help
-
onespan1831[m]
sent a payment but it's showing as unknown recipient and it hasn't been received at the payment end?
-
onespan1831[m]
is there anything i can do to recover the funds or solve the unknown recipient details?
-
plowsof
did you rescan your wallet after you made the transaction? or make the purchase on another device?
-
onespan1831[m]
nope, purchase was made on the same device
-
onespan1831[m]
and haven't rescanned
-
plowsof
latest version of the gui? settings->info?
-
plowsof
unknown recipient is either 'wallet cache is gone/broken' or 'made on another device' - did you ever see the recipients address being displayed there?
-
sech1
unknown recipient or just a different address shown?
-
onespan1831[m]
unknown recipient
-
onespan1831[m]
i don't remember about the address, i copied and pasted it like always, clicked send and then that was it
-
onespan1831[m]
i updated to the most recent gui and now it's not connecting to the daemon
-
onespan1831[m]
fml
-
onespan1831[m]
0.18.1.2-unknown (Qt 5.15.6) version
-
plowsof
before or after you made the purchase?
-
onespan1831[m]
just now
-
onespan1831[m]
had 40 confirmations
-
onespan1831[m]
wanted to see if that could solve the problem
-
onespan1831[m]
sorry,back
-
onespan1831[m]
yeah it's connected to the daemon now
-
onespan1831[m]
restarted pc to make sure
-
plowsof
settings -> node -> click remote node -> click (+) add remote node -> address = selsta2.featherwallet.net port = 18081 -> click ok -> click once on this address in your node list under (+) add remote node -> go to info -> click on (change) next to restore height -> click ok -> ok
-
onespan1831[m]

-
onespan1831[m]

<Siren[m]> "Imagine having FOSS in your name..." <- His blog is proprietary?
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
😨
-
plowsof
monero observer is open source(*)
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
Assuming I accidentaly translated Monero Moon, could he sue me?
-
Siren[m]
CidadoisAncap[m]: substack is proprietary
-
Siren[m]
he hosts his blog on substack
-
plowsof
it is/was translated into Russian for a long time, "proprietary" in the sense that the platform it uses "SubStack"
-
plowsof
he doesnt want to scare people off 😟
-
Siren[m]
plowsof: that blog uses cookies and has a privacy policy 🤮
-
Siren[m]
he scared me off when I viewed requests tab on my browser
-
plowsof
the reasoning for using substack is explained perfectly in the ccs - but he seems to think "not using substack" = "using a url that says inviduous-nitter-priavacy-backfoor-darknet/crypto dot com"
-
plowsof
and thus this would scare people away :) :)
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
Ata então ta suave pode pá entao
-
plowsof
substack "seems an easier solution than forcing readers to use unfamiliar websites or apps." , this makes perfect sense you see?
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
What is an altermative platform for substack?
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
Better yet a platform for publisbing pdfs
-
Rucknium[m]
Hugo is fine. There are several lightweight open source non-tracking blog software solutions.
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
s/publisbing/publishing/
-
plowsof
if only there was something he could protect people from knowing it was hosted on hugo, we all know they force you to have a weird url
-
Rucknium[m]
plowsof is being sarcastic by the way. Hugo does not force a weird URL.
-
Siren[m]
<CidadoisAncap[m]> "What is an altermative platform..." <- There's also Ghost
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
I will use it to upload translated monero moon to pt br
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
🗿🤙

The moai emoji goes so hard on element chat

CidadoisAncap[m]
🗿

rbrunner
And what does it stand for? Boomer wants to know.
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
🗿
-
rbrunner
No, I mean what do you express if you use this emoji?
-
rbrunner
"I stand very tall today"?
-
rbrunner
"I am from Easter Island". Hardly, right?
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
Strengh, virility, masculinity, affirmation
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
🗿
-
rbrunner
Ah, ok, finally makes sense :)

I RECIEVE BITCOIN IN MY CAKEWALLET,NOW I CONVERT BITCOIN TO MONERO,THEN I SEND MONERO TO MY BINANCE WALLET.AND I WITHDRAW MONERO IN MY BANK ACCOUNT. CAN SENDER OF BITCOIN TRACE MY IDENTITY?
-
sech1
YES AND MONERO HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT USING IT. NUMBER ON BINANCE PAGE ARE NOT MONERO, THEY'RE JUST NUMBER IN BINANCE DATABASE
-
kinghat[m]
😂
-
-
cryptosaint007[m
You can buy and trade monero in binance
-
sech1
good luck withdrawing it
-
cryptosaint007[m
<sech1> "YES AND MONERO HAS NOTHING TO DO..." <- I thought once I convert bitcoin to XMR it will become untraceable?
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Using xmr > xmr > xmr > xmr maybe
-
ofrnxmr[m]
But you used a centralized entity inbetween every hoo
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Hop
-
ofrnxmr[m]
You whored monero and as such dont get its benefits
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Tl: You only wanted BTC > fiat and used monero as a washer
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Wrong use
-
ofrnxmr[m]
In between every hop*
-
jeffro256[m]
BTC is transparent so you can see $100 of BTC transferred, then $100 of XMR shows up on Binance, Binance can make good guess as to origin of funds
-
cryptosaint007[m
I agree
-
Siren[m]
Binance certainly keeps logs of conversions and withdrawals
-
cryptosaint007[m
In dubai I can sell my bitcoin for cash
-
cryptosaint007[m
I can use my buddy passport to withdraw,so sender cannot know my identity
-
Siren[m]
cryptosaint007[m: Sender will go to cops, cops go to your bank
-
Siren[m]
You fucked up by involving binance and a bank
-
cryptosaint007[m
No more binance
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Siren[m]: And a centralized swap service
-
ofrnxmr[m]
How to say "I like the current system but wanna cheat it" without saying it LOL
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Pay your taxes on your btc like a true maxi
-
cryptosaint007[m
I will recieve bitcoin fly to dubai and sell your bitcoin for cash ,use my freind identity
-
ofrnxmr[m]
So.. your friend pays the taxes?
-
cryptosaint007[m
Recieve bitcoin in trust wallet
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Nice friend
-
Siren[m]
Ooh so this is supposed to be a scam?
-
cryptosaint007[m
The guy owes me money, not paying me
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Ok. Can you take this to #monero:monero.social
-
cryptosaint007[m
I have a way to recieve bitcoin from him in trust wallet
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Tldr Next time use bisq and localmonero or better, dont use bitcoin and fiat
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Anyway, this is the wrong place to talk about junk like binance and trust wallet and how to wash your Bitcoin
-
sech1
just ask the guy to send you Monero
-
sech1
we're in Monero channel, right?
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
Gm
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
Any estimates for when Seraphis will be launched?
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
🗿
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
Also, is there a way for monero to implement safe 0 confs transactions or wide wallet 0 conf support? Like the bch ecosystem does
-
merope
Wallets already "support" 0-confs: they are transactions with 0 confirmations
-
merope
"Accepting" them means that you (the seller) decide to give your product to the buyer as soon as their unconfirmed transaction shows up in your wallet, instead of waiting for at least 1 confirmation
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
Correct me if im wrong, but as far as i know, but monero wallets cant transact unconfirmed coins, it would be nice if we could
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
And xmr dont have replace-by-fee feature so a double spend attack isnt possible
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
God, i hope monero never deploys RBF
-
ofrnxmr[m]
CidadoisAncap[m]: Monero has to be confirmed or else ring members can be invalidated
-
ofrnxmr[m]
There is interest in lowering the lock time from 10 confirmations to something higher than 3 but lower than 10, based on likelyhood of a 3 block deep reorg
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
So, monero 0 conf only exists if the seller decides to give the product for the uncofirmed transaction?
-
NorrinRadd
CidadoisAncap[m] that's how most understand it to work with other currencies also
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
Cool
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
<CidadoisAncap[m]> "So, monero 0 conf only exists if..." <- Last question, just to make sure, is this model safe? Is the seller vulnerable to some sort of attack if they accept an xmr unconfirmed transaction as valid?
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
I know that btc suffer from double spending caused by rbf
-
NorrinRadd
there's slight risk but nowhere near as much risk as sellers face when they accept VISA & Mastercard due to their chargebacks
-
Rucknium[m]
xmr.to operated for years on zero-conf and never lost a piconero AFAIK
-
NorrinRadd
it's a low percentage risk; i forget the exact number
-
NorrinRadd
the ceo (i think) of bitrefill, Sergej, just recently posted last week that they've lost 2 transactions over about 5 years due to zero-conf (out of millions of transactions), on the btc mailing list
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
NorrinRadd: Cool
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
🗿
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
Next step: aggressive monero retail adoption
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
🗿
-
merope
Great, so what's your plan for aggressively pushing retail shops in your area to accept monero?
-
merope
Make sure you post your methods AND results in detail, so that others can follow your example in their own local communities if you're successful
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
merope: I have no idea🗿
-
CidadoisAncap[m]
Thank you guys for answering my questions and doubts
-
NorrinRadd
step #1: just ask
