<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> Someone said that people rarely have 2 calculator apps on desktop and stealth mode calculator is not something that would be really stealthy
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> Aaaaaand they suggested a game
-
plowsof
any alternative places to see for the irc audience, checking now on matrix
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> So we have a game with stealth wallet hidden inside

<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> With a nice c# library
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> anyway going back to work, would like to release iOS build this week to check that off the list and get back to actual background sync
-
m-relay
<plowsof:matrix.org> you're meant to be working slow in summer according to anonero
-
m-relay
<plowsof:matrix.org> you must live in a cooler hemisphere.. thats why you are providing updates Czarek Nakamoto
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> :p why is that?
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> I am out of the loop on the community part, focusing entirely on code atm
-
m-relay
-
m-relay
<plowsof:matrix.org> you know how it is.. summer
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> ah yeah summer
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> I am also chilling in the evenings without a laptop but yeah, not halting the updates
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> and I wouldn't mind a weather colder than 40*C (over 100* in the freedom units)
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> it's hard to think when you are sweating, but hey fans and AC is a thing
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> but there is a UI in anonero from what I can see, so there are some updates rolling
-
m-relay
<plowsof:matrix.org> "June, July, and August in the northern hemisphere and the months of December, January, and February in the southern hemisphere."
-
m-relay
<plowsof:matrix.org> increase every deadline by 6 months, its only fair
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> In winter you need extra time to remove the snow and do some winter sports you can't do in the summer
-
m-relay
<plowsof:matrix.org> :-o
-
m-relay
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> nah I don't care enough to spend this much time opening a website
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> maybe some other day I'll build it as an excersise
-
m-relay
<kewbit:matrix.org> What stack did you use to make that?
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> monero_c, obviously.
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> (ad disclaimer: I wrote monero_c)
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> Also I have something else that is cool as well
-
m-relay
<darkhappyman:monero.social> there is a xmr non custodial wallet in the game ? 😂
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> But I need to get to my laptop as iPad doesn’t want to send that but it’s sooo coooooool
-
m-relay
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> Look at that beauty
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> THIS IS FIRE
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> 🔥🔥
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> woah
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> I had to use monero-wallet-cli and I don't want to do that anymore
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> if I feel cute enough you will see UR implementation in the terminal UI
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> but no promises on that
-
m-relay
<mrcyjanek0:matrix.org> so anyway - back on track, code won’t write itself - will come to chat later ^^
-

<rucknium:monero.social> monerobull: Not to look a gift horse in the mouth too much, but do you plan to allow access to monero.town through Tor soon, or will Tor access be blocked indefinitely?
-
m-relay
<monerobull:monero.social> it's still being ddosed although not as strongly
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> if someone trustworthy with deep tor/nginx skills wants to try and figure out how to do configure lemmy with onion and tor pow, be my guest

m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> if someone trustworthy with deep tor/nginx skills wants to try and figure out how to configure lemmy with onion and tor pow, be my guest
-
m-relay
<rucknium:monero.social> IIRC nihilist set up a Lemmy .onion
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> i dont understand the internal lemmy routing at all and ive tried for a while
-
m-relay
<rucknium:monero.social> I remember your first attempt. And my optimism about that lol
-
m-relay
<rucknium:monero.social> How many Matrix accounts does Nihilist have? @nihilist:nowhere.moe was the one in #monero saying they set up a .onion lemmy
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> there are SO MANY config files as well
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> and half of them dont even do anything
-
plowsof
Are there any lemmy instances with this setup already?
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> not sure
-
rndname
m-relay: I can help you with that, I run an ISP/hosting company. I don't know what's lemmy though, is it some crap in php and javascript?
-
m-relay
<rucknium:monero.social> I said that Nihilist did:
libera.monerologs.net/monero/20240820#c413691
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org>
github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> rust actually
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> i also have set up a tor instance before
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> but that was tor only and federation didn't work
-
m-relay
<rottenwheel:kernal.eu> plowsof I just asked cafe's sysadmin... where I got a Cloudflare free /c/monero going...
-
m-relay
<rottenwheel:kernal.eu> "Hey dude, ever considered cafe's instance behind its own hidden service?"
-
m-relay
<rucknium:monero.social> We have this nice anti-DDoS PoW for onion hidden services. Could be nice to test it
-
m-relay
<rottenwheel:kernal.eu> "Tor-only Lemmy cafe front. All files and everything .onion."
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> im not sure if it would actually work tbh
-
rndname
installation instructions say you need docker, that usually means broken unoptimized crap.
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> the issue is that the lemmy frontend crashes under the ddos, not the server itself
-
m-relay
<rucknium:monero.social> A fellow Docker hater ;)
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> and tor pow for some dumb reason apparently doesnt ignore non-pow requests, just puts them at the back of the line
-
m-relay
<rucknium:monero.social> rare
-
rndname
m-relay: it crashes for what reason? That's http DoS?
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> I think the nginx pow plugin from kiwifarm is public and is working very well
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> knowing how much they get ddosed this might be a good entrypoint
-
plowsof
Thanks Rucknium, rottenwheel (ive never heard of cafe before), monerobull, syntheticbird
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> the frontend container becomes "unhealthy"
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> due to the http dos yeah
-
m-relay
-
m-relay
<rottenwheel:kernal.eu> Sar? You not being paying attention to what we pay you for?
-
m-relay
<rottenwheel:kernal.eu> Forced pay cut. Do better! Lol
-
m-relay
<rottenwheel:kernal.eu>
lemmy.cafe/post/6345779
-
m-relay
<rottenwheel:kernal.eu> One of the very first posts in the community...
-
m-relay
<rottenwheel:kernal.eu> FWIW, cafe sysadmin gave green light to host monero there.
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> Why has #monero-beef been closed already ?
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> Closed?
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> Monero Beef
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> Strange, maybe "someone" deleted it(?)
-
m-relay
<hcnop:matrix.org> Hi, yesterday I downloaded Monero Gui from github and verified the integrity of the file with the hash, so there should be no problem.
-
m-relay
<hcnop:matrix.org> I made some transactions and the next day, today, I opened the wallet but Bitdefender found a threat.
-
m-relay
<hcnop:matrix.org> I'm not sure if it's a real threat, but I don't understand why it didn't find it yesterday.
-
m-relay
<hcnop:matrix.org> The Threat detected by Bitdefender is called: Application.Mac.Generic.3023
-
m-relay
<hcnop:matrix.org> Has anyone had similar experiences?
-
ofrnxmr
This is on windows?
-
ofrnxmr
Windows falsely flags monero software as a virus. Add an exclusion to the folder
-
m-relay
<hcnop:matrix.org> Whith MacOs
-
ofrnxmr
Is bitdefender a 3rd party tool?
-
m-relay
<hcnop:matrix.org> Bitdefender is antivirus :

-
m-relay
<hcnop:matrix.org> I have some money in my wallet, it's not much so I can afford to lose it, I don't withdraw it to have proof that it's a false positive.
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> > Be aware that some antiviruses and firewalls may flag the Monero executables and archives as malware. More info in the FAQ.

m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> MacOS or Windows, some signatures are shared between platforms
-
m-relay
<hcnop:matrix.org> Yes, it will be a false positive. Now insert an exception.
-
m-relay
<j0j0xmr:monero.social> So FCMP is close to being added?!
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> as closer as the expected timeline
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> the current PR is a draft and some crates still needs to be imported/audited
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> some theory too needs audits
-
m-relay
<j0j0xmr:monero.social> Realistically what kind of ETA are we looking at?
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> iirc testnet Q1/2 2025
-
m-relay
<j0j0xmr:monero.social> Nice!
-
m-relay
<spirobel:kernal.eu> this is cool
-
m-relay
<spirobel:kernal.eu> like pokemon on gameboy
-
m-relay
<spirobel:kernal.eu> make a web build pls
-
m-relay
<spirobel:kernal.eu> okay there were some donations to the kuno. Gives me motivation to work on monero again. 🔥
-
m-relay
<spirobel:kernal.eu> thanks to everyone who has been nice to me 😄👍️
-
m-relay
<spirobel:kernal.eu> thanks to everyone who has been nice to me 👍️
-
m-relay
<spirobel:kernal.eu> this is a big problem. I like the concept of kuno more where you get paid out directly as you work. I hope we can establish this more. It can lead to more harmony in the community if we just work and have donations flowing in as work is being done. But I also see that this does not fit well with everyones style. Some would rather work towards a milestone and have no communication in between.

m-relay
<kewbit:matrix.org> Especially us autists, we prefer 0% social interaction.
-
m-relay
<kewbit:matrix.org> 😂
-
m-relay
<jeffro256:monero.social> It seems to me that big donators tend to not be interested in micromanaging the recipient of the funds, which is why the CCS has been popular IMO (as well the fact that it has Monero Core team reputation)
