<monerobull:matrix.org> hey guys
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> wait so are they a scam or are they not a scam?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> mbll is being sarcastic
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Changelly isnt to be trusted until they prove otherwise
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> OH
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> makes sense
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> im dumb today idky
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> thanks
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> I wonder if monerotime is going to pay you
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> (honestly). After making bokd statements and then tweeting he'd pay 69xmr out of pocket, i honestly hope he's not screwing you
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> I did drop him a message so lets see if that happens. or else hey, xmrsigner gets to have a new OS which works in prod for them, I just put this on my resume and my prize would be the knowledge I gained
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> but yeah, hope he ain't screwing around. I wanted to keep it a trust based payment where I ship and then he pays. so that the same incident doesn't happen again which happened earlier
-
plowsof
where this all stems from, (is MoneroZone == MoneroTime?) there was a complaint left under the latest xmrsigner payout update which another user upvoted. as a result, the payout for this is currently in limbo , comment here
repo.getmonero.org/monero-project/c…als/-/merge_requests/495#note_30005
-
plowsof
if nighteous could give an overview on the state of the project as is that would be helpful
-
plowsof
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> plowsof: well idk if MoneroZone == MoneroTime since Monero Zone is also an account on X (@MoneroZone) and (@MoneroTime) also exists
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> but eh, both could have the same account idk, doesn't matter to me much lol
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> second now for the current state, Things barely work, are out dated, cannot be used without fixes. The tools around it (such as moneroemulator) also was not working so actually developing it would be constant flashing to the RPI which would destroy its NANDS[... more lines follow, see
mrelay.p2pool.observer/e/gN2_gLAKVmdGa3Nn ]
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> so it is incompletely complete
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> things are there but those things don't work or work in the wrong way
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> plowsof: yes the final milestone is indeed for 65 XMR but there was this X thread which shared above (
xcancel.com/Its_nighteous/status/1961424002942992648) in which he claimed that it was false advertisement from MoneroTime
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> now I did talk to him and would love to trust him about it but since its my first time working on anything CSS related, I have no clue how it works
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> how does it work out now that the previous developer is somewhat out of the picture
-
plowsof
vthor is around as of a few days ago. everything ofrnxmr said reg the protections CCS proposers have while in progress is true , you will not earn a single piconero from the CCS wallet without a combination of community approval / proposer handed a performance review deadline etc and your name merged into the master branch of the CCS repo.
-
plowsof
MoneroTime/Zone is not affiliated in any way what so ever with the CCS wallet payout or administration
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> plowsof: getting my name merged into master branch is not the biggest headache
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> that will happen once im done with the whole thing
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> and yes, he did say this that he isn't affiliated in anyway
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> so I do have a question
-
plowsof
iiuc the xmrsigner was designed to be one time use / amnesic right? (is this what you mean by needing to flash it each time?) and are these issues accurate or are you critisisms not mentioned in this update? (things to do / fix)
repo.getmonero.org/monero-project/c…als/-/merge_requests/495#note_29994
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> @nighteous:matrix.org: lets suppose I do finish this off and xmrsigner does release their first production ready OS which is also what the proposal wants to happen
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> Will vthor get the payment or what happens?? since the proposal got finished in that situation plowsof
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> plowsof: its designed to be amensic, yes with the option to have persistence with the sd card if available (this is opt in)
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> that is not what I mean by flash it each time
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> When I said "flash it each time", it would be for whenever I change the code, to update the code on the device itself, I would have to create a new dev image and run it (atleast this is how I saw the code to be like) which absolutely destroys the device if done alot of times. (I have destroyed 2 phones like this)
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> [... more lines follow, see
mrelay.p2pool.observer/e/le-RgbAKc25zVUZE ]
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> I am taking a different approach, Im building xmrsigner with the performance flaws of monero-wallet-rpc since shipping the working prototype matters more than perfecting it right off the bat to me.
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> and also flashing would be a one time thing as an end user activity.
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> It is just for development that I need to do it again and again and realised its better to use the emulator first
-
plowsof
as it stands now, vthor would request payout if its complete. this is not a bounties.monero.social and this is milestone 3 - building upon a body of work - the correct route to take over a CCS would be to highlight the bad - the proposer respond and the community to decide on a deadline or time frame to complete the work, you can perform charitable
-
plowsof
work for your own portfolio and request donations outside of the CCS because every other proposer with work in progress proposal will be clutching their pearls and the union chiefs will bust our balls
-
plowsof
" realised its better to use the emulator first " yes the emulator that vthor got into a working state @
github.com/DiosDelRayo/monerosigner-emulator ?
-
plowsof
are you aware of monero-python by any chance nighteous?
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> plowsof: yes, I got it to a polished state where it doesn't crash constantly and updated things in it
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> vthor did the major heavy lifting for this, thanks to that it works for me
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> plowsof: yep, I am aware of it
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> I was looking into it as well and that vthor had his own fork to it
-
plowsof
monero-python makes bindings to monero-cpp , this monero-python is new
github.com/everoddandeven/monero-python
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> what union? and why would the other proposers with work in progress "clutch their pearls" huh > <plowsof> work for your own portfolio and request donations outside of the CCS because every other proposer with work in progress proposal will be clutching their pearls and the union chiefs will bust our balls
-
plowsof
i assume the monero-pyton in signer now is the old one which is mostly a wallet-rpc wrapper , the monero-python above is in a round about way
github.com/woodser/monero-cpp
-
plowsof
everoddandeven suggested it would help alot
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> plowsof: yeahh
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> I did see this, everoddandeven suggest this to vthor and vthor (who was planning to shift to C++) didn't find it helpful
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> but yes I get it
-
plowsof
have you had any contact with vthor?
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> plowsof: yessss this should be possible to use and shift since its just removing the wrapper and directly talking to the bindings
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> which is definitely alot lot better
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> yepp
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> I know he was shifting to C++ (I hope i didn't misunderstand) because we talked about it and what he was planning to do
-
plowsof
do you have a public repo of your prev works?
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> none of it is related to monero or such developments but I can happily share it over in the DM (wouldn't like to keep it public)
-
plowsof
do you know anything about solar panels and mining monero (and controlling computers using python from external input .. weather.. other info)
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> plowsof: solar panels, never worked with those directly (might do soon to setup my homelab and have it run off a offgrid using solar)
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> Mining monero, yes. But do you mean the logic behind mining like how does RandomX work and how is it mined? (I know from a high level perspective but definitely would be fun to dive into the cryptography behind it)
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> or do you mean just setting up and running it off with something like xmrig or just monerd (atleast stagenet worked with monerd) in pools
-
br-m

an abandoned proposal SoloptXMR (mentioned in
repo.getmonero.org/monero-project/ccs-proposals/-/merge_requests/537) is available to inquire about taking over
-
plowsof
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> I can look into this plowsof
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> I'll do my charitable for xmrsigner and get their release done because some users on X mentioned that they wanted it
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> and then I can ask on how to inquire about taking over, not sure about the whole process

Lets start with asking AI how to get checkboxes to display correctly in markdown
github.com/ralph4-op/seer
-
br-m
<entre667:matrix.org> Okay I will next time
-
plowsof
Lol
-
br-m
<entre667:matrix.org> I used my branch as the title not the fork
-
plowsof
My 1st impression + seeing your commit at .aming it more readable from username "user"
ralph4-op/seer 33cf454
-
br-m
<entre667:matrix.org> lol
-
plowsof
It did. It make it more readable so lets work on those check boxes
-
plowsof
Its almost a monero network simulator
ralph4-op/seer 54c06bf
-
plowsof
Vibecoding has been merged to funding in the past so best of luck
-
plowsof
Take 2 zeroes off the asking amount , then half it. 10. Then link your prev contributions to the monero project
-
plowsof
Sorry for thinking out loud
-
plowsof
Struggling with the markdown , did you test it? π
ralph4-op/seer 33cf454 this is awesome
-
br-m
<entre667:matrix.org> plowsof: I'd need 54 more IQ points for that to be plausible.
-

<entre667:matrix.org> Was gonna add more to the readme

<entre667:matrix.org> No was gonna be something more detailed like which api's and marketplaces to reach out to?

<ct:xmr.mx> The scope creep on this is insane, no wonder it got stuck at the last 20% (which take up 80% of the dev time) > <plowsof> current progress @
github.com/endorxmr/SolOptXMR
-
br-m
<ct:xmr.mx> Are there any real users of the current software? Is it in a usable state?
-
plowsof
Its... Yep. It even moves into providing guides on physical construction of the setup and health and safety points
-
br-m
<ct:xmr.mx> Voltage levels vs state of charge on lead acid accumulators was my favorite :)
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> @ct:xmr.mx: I wonder if something like a "plugin system" could save the devs from the scope creep
-
plowsof
Im not aware of any. I was shown an image of someone next to a solar panel claiming they where using it
-
br-m
<ct:xmr.mx> If your solar+battery system can't report state of charge natively, you have bigger problems. No need for visual detection of a voltmeter with seven segment display to then convert it to the battery charge level...
-
plowsof
Ive seen several people post solar .mining stuff on reddit not using solopt

-
br-m
<ct:xmr.mx> probably could vibe code an actually usable MVP in a weekend
-
br-m
<ct:xmr.mx> I dont like how people reduce threads to lower consumption or turn on/off entire machines. It would make much more sense to modulate CPU package power to get the best efficiency and max utilization at any available power
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> There was some ppl who has good stuff a coupke yrs ago
-
plowsof
Does solopt need to exist if people keep losting their solar mining setups without it
-
plowsof
Posting*
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> @ct:xmr.mx: usually its "easier" to just reduce the threads instead of dealing with those aspects of the machine
-
plowsof
It would make sense to re-scope the ccs if something useful csn be made out of it?
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> plowsof: depends on if there is something similar that some other community might be using?
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> like if SolOpt was needed then there might be something like it for BTC already?
-
br-m
<ct:xmr.mx> Well yeah its easier, but for 110xmr you would think that a script that optimizes mining on solar... optimizes the efficiency?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: ^
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> there was someone in a monero mining pool room who had posted their stuff years ago
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> I doubt i'll be abke to find it
-
plowsof
The one with home assistant stuff right?
-
br-m
<nighteous:matrix.org> @ct:xmr.mx: You would think, thats what I also thought that for 196 XMR, things would be working in xmrsigner but that doesn't seem to be the case
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> But id bet it already exists for various projects
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> plowsof: Yeah
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> You remember that i shared the video here years ago?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> i'm looking for it now
