can anyone help with the monero-cli wallet? I attempt to restore from a particular date, the wallet returns the restore height ~2,000,000 then it refreshes from 0 anyway. If I let it refresh from 0 it fails at the end saying something about failed to connect to daemon but it was connected and was refreshing.

You could sync from an external SSD, then move the blockchain file to your HDD. Once synced it's much easier to just stay in sync by running your node now and then.

so MyMonero (desktop) + monero-lws appears to be working, got a wallet synced up, restored from seed, balance is updated. However, when sending I get "This wallet must first be imported". ndorf: any known workarounds?

seemed like the import logic is too rigid, only wants to work with mymonero.com backend. i couldn't proceed with the impoort workflow but it all synced up anyways

lza_menace: that's a known client-side issue. workaround is to delete your wallet client-side and re-add it
