Does the curve Monero uses support something like non-hardened key derivation?

e.g. given a public key K, derive another public key K', but without being able to derive K from K'

yeah unfortunately yanmaani not everyone is as knowledgeable as they should be. they shouldn't be scammed out of money because of a lack of knowledge. and they were selling bitcoin asics too.

If I want to pay someone in XMR for a service, what's the simplest way for them to accept the payment and receive it in their local currency assuming they know nothing about Monero and just want to receive the money?

You need some third-party payment processor that takes crypto

(And transparently converts it to fiat for the receiver)
