leonardus
what's the best place to look to hire artists that accept monero?
-
lousiF
leonardus, I may be able to assist ?
-
lousiF
lousiF⊙lc if this machine melts
-
apotheon
leonardus: Why do I think the people making memes for Wownero might be amenable to accepting Monero for art?
-
apotheon
leonardus: Other than that, I think monerica.com, cryptwerk.com, and acceptedhere.io might be good places to check.
-
apotheon
leonardus: Note that the way monerica.com is organized you might want to search for all instances of the words "art" and "design" on the page. Stuff is scattered across different categories.
-
chown
so the monero GUI wallet is failing to start the local node and its giving me an error, telling me to check the logs and then telling me to also try and start the node manually
-
chown
"Daeomon failed to start: Timed out, local node is not responding after 120 seconds. Please check your wallet and daemon log for errors. You can also try to start monerod manually"
-
chown
and i'm un sync'd again kek what the heck
-
chown
At least it's syncing fast on monerod
-
selsta
chown: do you have a different blockchain location set?
-
selsta
inside Settings -> Node?
-
chown
yeah I do
-
chown
I moved my block chain to my external harddrive and it's pointing to it
-
chown
AH
-
chown
It's a permission error
-
selsta
when starting monerod manually you also have to set --data-dir
-
selsta
just in case you are syncing to the default location
-
chown
ok so I did monerod --data-dir ~/path/to/directory/ and it returned
-
chown
"fish: Job 1, 'sudo monerod --data-dir ~/mount…' terminated by signal SIGBUS (Misaligned address error)"
-
selsta
sounds like a corrupted file
-
selsta
try copying again from the default location
-
chown
what the fuck lol
-
selsta
~/.bitmonero/lmdb
-
chown
I don't know if I have space to download the block chain on my drive
-
chown
my main SDD is full from btc
-
selsta
did you check the default location?
-
chown
yeah it's set to my external
-
selsta
--prune-blockchain
-
selsta
45GB instead of 130
-
chown
probably still to bit
-
chown
big
-
selsta
22:29 <chown> At least it's syncing fast on monerod
-
selsta
what did you sync when writing this message?
-
selsta
it sounded like it was syncing
-
chown
nothign I just ran straight monerod
-
chown
Which I assume it was syncing to my ssd
-
chown
can I like
-
chown
I have a 4tb SSD
-
chown
SDD
-
chown
Can I sync it to that?
-
selsta
sure, as long as it's not a network drive
-
chown
like can I do moerod --data-dir ~/path/to/mount?
-
selsta
and make sure to not unplug it during sync, that can result in a corrupted blockchain
-
chown
Also I set it to the default path on that drive right
-
chown
yeah i think that is what happened last night
-
chown
I went out to the bar syncing and I unplugged my drive by mistake
-
chown
Deff was that
-
selsta
there is a safe sync mode that protects against that
-
selsta
but makes sync way slower
-
chown
ah I see I see
-
chown
Well lesson learned at any rate
-
chown
So is it better to prune the block chain or just download the whole thing?
-
chown
why is it telling me it will take 3.6 months to download reee
-
chown
And that's with the freaking pruned block chain
-
selsta
chown: pruned and unpruned take the same time to sync
-
chown
lol dangggg really? why
-
chown
that's weird considering how data works...
-
chown
It's counterintuitive I mean
-
selsta
in general it's best to sync on internal ssd as long as you still have space and then move to the external
-
chown
oh hmm
-
selsta
otherwise usb is a bottleneck
-
chown
AH dude I can mvoe my btc wallet to the external and then sync on my SSD hah
-
selsta
pruned nodes still verify the whole blockchain, they just don't store everything
-
chown
duh
-
chown
Now bitcoin-qt wants to download the block chain again
-
chown
ugh this is absurd dude
-
chown
Why can't block chains be torrented?
-
chown
Like it makes zero sense to P2P download a 190 gig file from a single host
-
merope
Because torrents are static, otherwise you have no way to verify what you are downloading
-
merope
The moment you start introducing code and rules to verify a specific blockchain file, you are designing a node
-
merope
Fwiw there have been attempts at sharing the chain via torrents - but they all die out pretty quickly as the file becomes obsolete
-
chown
Ok well now my bitcoin client is broken
-
chown
>error opening block database
-
chown
>Do you wanto to rebuild the block database now?
-
chown
>Error:Error opening block database
-
merope
I guess that's what happens when you move the blockchain file without changing the setting
-
chown
changing what setting?
-
chown
How do I download the blockchain down what the heck man
-
chown
well bitcoin-qt with the reindex flags worked but damnit dude now I have to download the whole blockchain over again? Seriously man?
-
chown
sigh
