Ill implement thus eventually

ceetee🇧🇪: when using termux node script?
-
ofrnxmr[m]
I have a Samsung SD card running a pruned node for > a year now. 0 corruptions.
-
ofrnxmr[m]
And ive OOM termux, and had it force closed by the os plenty of times. Never had an issue with corrupted db on android
-
sech1
I have a corrupted db on android right now
-
sech1
exactly because termux was OOM killed
-
sech1
to be fair, it was also force close before plenty of times and no problems
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Ive had more luck corrupting the db on desktop linux :P
-
ofrnxmr[m]
But yeah, its always possible. Id assume if its repetitive its likely a bad SD card
-
ofrnxmr[m]
My tablet has 2.7gb ram and will OOM if I do anything else on the same device. Last OOM 6 days ago :P
-

libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/v3/do…265d73a5befd4eb2f9a2a405fd8d14d64a3>)
-
ceetee[m]
Might behave differently with another SD card, haven't tries
-
fiercepaddy[m]
What is the most private way to use monero? In a whonix VM?
-
ceetee[m]
its too finicky and unreliable for my taste, don't want to babysit my nide
-
ofrnxmr[m]
<ceetee[m]> "its too finicky and unreliable..." <- I dont babysit mine, at all
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Only goes OOM when I use the device for something else. Aside from that its sitting up on a shelf and I SSH into it
-
ofrnxmr[m]
There are s few cases where the binaries simply dont run. Huawei p20 for example. And iirc an issue with graphene
-
ceetee[m]
It is too hardware dependent to recommend "just get an old android + micro SD card to have low power 24/7 node", which was my original intention
-
ofrnxmr[m]
As compared to using an older pc with an hdd?
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Or a newer one with a HDD for that matter
-
ofrnxmr[m]
SD cards arent magic. They are slow.
-
dANBs[m]
wander[xmpp]: Is mining monero still a viable option? Is worthwhile to mine with smartphones? What is best coin to mine with smartphone?
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Define viable
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Profitable? Do-able?
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Anyway, termux node used to use safe sync mode, which performed more writes than necessary (which is bad for flash storage in general)
-
ceetee[m]
Exactly. SD cards are shit for anything but media files, and monerod is easily bottlenecked by slow storage
-
ceetee[m]
SBC (or small form factor PC) with NVME is the way to go, I think
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Android TV boxes and again, android mobile devices work with ssd storage as well
-
ofrnxmr[m]
External ssd should work out ofnthe box with my script, provided there (isnt also an SD card installed)
-
ceetee[m]
I've tried manual setup my daily driver phone with a usb3 nvme ssd, and I couldnt access it from termux. And even if that works, you still have to deal with supplying power
-
ceetee[m]
Thought about making a custom adapter, that allows data to an external, while also allowing charging the phone
-
ceetee[m]
But that's only worth the time if there is some demand for it
-
ofrnxmr[m]
<ceetee[m]> "Thought about making a custom..." <- They sell them foe 15$
-
ofrnxmr[m]
I have one plugged in rn
-
plowsof11
there are some off the shelf 'pass-thru' type things which regulate when your phone is charged / allowed to discharge (to extend battery life) - would be ideal for this
-
ofrnxmr[m]
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Exsmole
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Itd called "USB OTG". Been around for like 15 years
-
ofrnxmr[m]
(Exaggerating)
-
plowsof11
heres one ofthose pass-thru charger things
chargie.org
-
ofrnxmr[m]
And if you cant access it, need to run termux-storage-setup
-
ofrnxmr[m]
RTFM Rucknium:
-
ofrnxmr[m]
(I didnt read the part about what the behavior is with multiple external storage devices, but having only 1 = works same as SD card)
-
cockliuser[m]
At that point just buy one of those cheap sbc
-
cockliuser[m]
*sbcs
-
cockliuser[m]
For an open-source one, you have the Pine64
-
ofrnxmr[m]
cockliuser[m]: At which point?
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Personally, my Samsung automatically limits to 80% full charge with a built in setting
-
ofrnxmr[m]
And my android TV already has external power + extra USB ports. The dongle for using a phone etc with an external hard drive, is more useful than just an external hard drive
-
ceetee[m]
<ofrnxmr[m]> "Itd called "USB OTG". Been..." <- since mini USB, so longer than 15 years ;) Didn't think about the hub thingies, but rather a "passive" solution that passes the data directly through and only injects power... but at 15€ its hard to compete

hi
-
Guest4588
multisig is still experimental?
-
Guest4588
is not enabled by default so is experimental
-
xfedex[m]
Known vulnerabilities have been fixed
-
xfedex[m]
<Guest4588> "multisig is still experimental?" <- Yes, but it should work
-
Guest4588
is not enabled by default so is experimental!
-
selsta
until we have security proofs for multisig it will stay marked as experimental

i'm interested in the current structure of monero blocks;
monero.stackexchange.com/questions/…of-a-block-in-the-monero-blockchain references "CNS003" that is unobtainum now(?), where should i go for such protocol docs?
-
sech1
-
sech1
unlock_time is not a UNIX timestamp though, it's a block height in Monero
-
L29Ah
thanks
-
hyc
it's not always a block height. sometimes it's a timestamp.
-
L29Ah
yeah, i see it's clarified in cns004
-
sech1
yes, if it's bigger than CRYPTONOTE_MAX_BLOCK_NUMBER it's treated as a timestamp
-
sech1
CRYPTONOTE_MAX_BLOCK_NUMBER = 500000000
-
Inge
unlock_time affects change as well?
-
plowsof11
yes
-
plowsof11
-
merope
I'd also put in bold the "This means any returning change will be locked too." at the beginning
-
plowsof11
it is deployed on site* ignore
-
gimiso90[m]
Hello, I just bought an exact needed amount of Monero and then the price dropped and now I'm short on few cents. Should I wait for it to increase or what?
-
Inge
Having margins is sometimes useful
-
gimiso90[m]
True.
-
plowsof11
"or what" , are you begging?
-
plowsof11
make a reddit post, wait for business owner to say "send me a screenshot of your address in our wallet" -> receive 5$ instead -> rinse repeat
-
plowsof11
not here thanks
-
gimiso90[m]
plowsof11: No, why?
-
monerobull[m]1
<gimiso90[m]> "Hello, I just bought an exact..." <- That's why you go to checkout before buying the coins (or already have more than enough coins)
-
monerobull[m]1
You could also use trocadors payment mode
