Are there any good sports betting site that accepts monero?
-
privacygurl[m]
hello. does anyone know where i can find a list of trustworthy remote nodes
-
privacygurl[m]
thanks
-
plowsof11
privacygurl links for the above
github.com/feather-wallet/feather/blob/master/src/assets/nodes.json or a random collection @ monero.fail
-
privacygurl[m]
plowsof11: thanks. do you know how i can connect to a remote node after I've already created my wallet in simple mode?
-
privacygurl[m]
im using monero GUI wallet
-
plowsof11
assuming this is the Monero GUI you click the [-> looking thing in the top left corner to close wallet, then click the 'change wallet mode' orange bottom near the bottom and select advanced (then re-open your wallet from file.
-
privacygurl[m]
plowsof11: ooh. do i need to download the entire blockchain?
-
plowsof11
then settings -> node -> (+) add remote node, fill the details in (user/pass not required) -> ok -> then click it in the list so its highlighted grey. it should connect.
-
plowsof11
simple mode is a 'random remote node' advanced mode + remote node is one youve chosen (so no, no need to DL the blockchain)
-
privacygurl[m]
worked. thanks!
-
privacygurl[m]
i dont really get the point of simple mode since you're allowed to use a random remote node in the advanced wallet anyway :P

rbrunner
Haha, a post with 9 links must be spam, right? :) Maybe there is some mod around to release my post:

How do people feel about censorship, freedom of speech manipulation and stuff?

PredatorONormies
s/people/people in here
-
plowsof11
if it looks like we're reading your private messages and each message is 1 or 3 words long / barely on-topic then you're gunna get #censored in here
-
PredatorONormies
I guess there are other channels for that question :P
-
rbrunner
censored (tm)

ofrnxmr[m]
<PredatorONormies> "I guess there are other channels..." <- #monero-offtopic:monero.social yeh

PredatorONormies
I don't use Matrix lol

PredatorONormies
But thanks

privacygurl[m]
anybody know the best websites for purchasing giftcards with monero? with the exception of cakewallet
-
dANBs[m]
zek[xmpp]: Ищу работу
-
cockliuser[m]
<privacygurl[m]> "anybody know the best websites..." <- There's topup-balance but it's a bit more expensive than bitrefill
-
PredatorONormies
How do Monero giftcards work? xD
-
PredatorONormies
If it's like pay-when-activated - could the gifter lose more money?
-
PredatorONormies
hmm depends.. because you would be buying it with fiat, not?
-
plowsof11
research 'what is a proxy merchant'
-
Pcubensis[m]
I just built monero and ran monerod --detach but how can i check the progress of syncing the blockchain? Or how will i know when it's done?
-
plowsof11
./monerod status
-
Pcubensis[m]
Assuming the height % is the progress of syncing?
-
ofrnxmr[m]
You would be oddly correct
-
PredatorONormies
oh, really? I always checked the log file XD
-
PredatorONormies
holy shit thanks plowsof11
-
plowsof11
oh no problem, theres also 127.0.0.1:18081/get_info
-
PredatorONormies
xD

PredatorONormies
nice curl

PredatorONormies
it's nice when you curl it*

sooo how does Monero over I2P work? are I2P Monero users inter-connected with main-net/clear-net somehow?
-
plowsof11
-
PredatorONormies
bloby
-
PredatorONormies
thanks
-
privacygurl[m]
plowsof
-
privacygurl[m]
do you have your own remote nodes? i just checked out the featherwallet github
-
privacygurl[m]
and i see remote nodes listed with ur name
-
privacygurl[m]
lol
-
PredatorONormies
> ...while relying on IPv4 for the remainder of messages to make surrounding node attacks (via sybil) more difficult. < what does it mean by IPv4? Can I2P not provide that? I don't understand.. Monero uses like TCP/UDP, right?
-
PredatorONormies
> the wallets will connect to a daemon through a proxy. < proxy? I do not understand, why not just connect locally, doesn't shit work like this: wallet <-> monerod <-> the Monero network ?
-
PredatorONormies
And with I2P it should be as simple as wallet <-> monerod <-> I2P <-> the Monero network, no?
-
BusyBoredom[m]
IPv4 is a the IP address specification, it's unrelated to I2P which is an anonymity network.
-
PredatorONormies
Ah I understand a bit better, I believe
-
PredatorONormies
What about I2PC?
-
PredatorONormies
Monero is alike torrenting, in ways, right?
-
PredatorONormies
Because in I2P by default you cannot connect to people via some IP address directly - because there's no such thing, unless you do it like via Bob or I2PC or whatever
-
PredatorONormies
Guys at Ilita IRC (
i2pd.website) can probably explain better than I just did
-
xfedex[m]
<PredatorONormies> "Because in I2P by default you..." <- With I2P, you do not connect to people with IP address; you connect to their B32 i2p addresss
-
xfedex[m]
s/addresss/address/
-
PredatorONormies
But how? (I didn't read the entire page yet btw, got poor memory (skills?)) Unless Monero utilizes I2P's I2CP - does each Monero user have to somehow create their own service, manually, or something?
-
PredatorONormies
Also - I meant I2CP, not I2PC xD
-
PredatorONormies
Yeah, seems to be more-less explained, I think
-
PredatorONormies
it too complicated for my smol brain tho ;(
-
PredatorONormies
Anyways - glad to see it being more than just mentioned :D
