Unfortunately the kernel on AMD does not support changing these values yet. Yes on Intel, no on AMD.

No one's found this before. But the real solution is to fix the daemon code.

I have everything pinned, including the host. But, queerly, CPU% still ramps up in other VMs when I start the mining VM.

I have 5 CPUs set aside in the mining VM for exceptions and I/O.

All pinning is done to keep the two threads for each core together.

And I have hugepages set up in the host and dedited to the mining VM in a new way, such that /dev/hugepages is now automatically mounted in the VM.

Reserving the hugepages for the VM is the best way to do it yes, that way you still have them available even after many days uptime. For you're other issue I can't say, I do use XEN for mine.

With Monero, you need enough L3 cache on each core to mine efficiently. Mining on as many cores are possible usually does not get the best performance.

xmrig usually gets better results than just mining with monerod directly. It selects the "best" number of threads usually
