m-relay
<frightsi:waifuhunter.club> i don't want to right now, the latest update does not seem to affect me as I do not use macOS

<plowsof:matrix.org> you will at least save 1 second of your life every time you open it
-
m-relay
<frightsi:waifuhunter.club> i can access the cli right now in the gui, unless the daomon log is not the cli
-
m-relay
<plowsof:matrix.org> oh sorry, by cli i meant monero core which is basically the back-end of the gui, definitely worth updating to 18.3.1

As far as I remember, unfortunately the installer is not signed, so Windows won't judge it to be from a trustworthy source and show the name of the source
-

It will basically just ask "Do you trust this?" Which, if you verified the installer using the hash, you can, IMHO.

-
m-relay
<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> bcs i often use e.g. 4 centichans to refer to 0.04 XMR and alike and though it could be used there as well

<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> ye
-
m-relay
<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> but it's using the metric system and the last 4 digits would end up being a fractional number
-
m-relay
<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> and saying that today is the year 478.1 seems really stupid

<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> where novel meaning new
-
m-relay
<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> to elaborate we currently use the gregorian calendar that indexes 1 AD as the birth of jesus christ.. i want to make a new calendar that is using the age of the universe as it's index but the issue is that the number is 137989434781 years since big bang
-
m-relay
<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> So i was thinking that i could define it as 13,7989434781 and use monero's slang/denomination to express the last 4 digits
-
m-relay
<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> as monero seems to have the same problem and the denomination seems to be the solution to it

-
m-relay
<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> (just imagine that instead of CE there is nero and XMR)
-
m-relay
<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> because 2300.0 pCE would pass the 1 nCE barrier right?
-
m-relay
<ctrej:matrix.org> the units don't make sense
-
m-relay
<ctrej:matrix.org> what are you trying to say?
-
m-relay
<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> trying to get denomination table of 13.7879432023 XMR basically
-
m-relay
<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> .. and then replace XMR with CE because it's used to calculate years since the big bang where denomination alike is just a way to manage the large number
-
m-relay
<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> where it's hierarchical notation so instead of saying that i have 13787943202.3 nCE it's supposed to be 202.3 nCE
-
m-relay
<ctrej:matrix.org> thats just normal metric prefixed tho?
-
m-relay
<ctrej:matrix.org> nothing to do with monero?
-
m-relay
<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> monero does the hierarchical notation afaik so that people can like spell out e.g. Buy a hotdog for 2 decineros 5 centineros 1 milinero and 326 microneros
-
m-relay
<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> at least people in my local area say it that way when i use XMR
-
m-relay
<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> So i was thinking that it's a great idea to use for managing a large number while making it practically usable
-
m-relay
<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> (well people in my area would say 2 decichans 5 centichans 1 milichan and 326 microchans, but you get the point)
-
m-relay
<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> (well people in my area would say 2 decichans 5 centichans 1 milichan and 326 microchans, bcs Monero-chan, but you get the point)
-
m-relay
<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> to elaborate further it's been approximately 137879432023 years since the big bang which is impractical to use in daily life as people have to remember this long number so instead i want to do:
-
m-relay
<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> 13.7879432023 = CE -> 202.3 nCE
-
m-relay
<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> And in daily life and use omit the separator dot so that it could be used as today's year is 2023 nano CEs
-
m-relay
<endor00:matrix.org> Aside from the fact that this is massively offtopic, your table actually implies that 1 CE = 10^9 years, so you're just giving a custom name to 1 Gigayear. What you probably had in mind was 13.whatever Gy = 1 CE, as in 1 CE is 13.whatever billion years (which would still be pointless, because there's no intrinsic reason to consider the age of the universe until now as "1 era")
-
