Does cake have an IRC room? #no-wallet-left-behind is probably only for Seraphis & meetings
-
boldsuck
Cake docu confuses me:
-
boldsuck
Seed Types
-
boldsuck
BIP-39 seed type is generated by default
-
boldsuck
and then:
-
boldsuck
Seed format
-
boldsuck
Bitcoin wallets only currently support being created using the Electrum seed format.
-
boldsuck
My problem is actually: Stack wallet doesn't like 24-word seed from Cake. (Recovery LTC wallet. Cake and Stack Linux)
-
boldsuck
All 24 words are OK (green) but 'Restore wallet' failed.

<basses:matrix.org> how could this happen?

I'm using Monero and I2P to securely login to my Linux machines. I'm using a PAM authentication module that uses Monero digital signatures and Monero proof-of-payment. The proof-of-payment is supposed to leverage all the watts consumed by all the Monero miners globally. My question is does anyone know how I can get a feel of how many megawatt hours the Monero miners consume? Is there a place where I can locate such data?
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> hold on i think i missed something
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> YOU PLUGGED PROOF OF PAYMENT IN TO PAM ??????
-
techguydown
I didn't but I'm using a project that uses Monero digital signatures for authentication using a PAM module and its has an optional Monero proof-of-payment for additional security.
-
techguydown
I want to understand the amount of electrical power (watts) the Monero miners consume globally so that I can guestimate how much power is securing my systems.
-
techguydown
The PAM module does implement Monero proof-of-payment (check_tx_key).

<rucknium:monero.social> ableone: AFAIK, endor00 has some estimates.
-

<endor00:matrix.org> ableone check out my python script:
gist.github.com/endorxmr/07364dc54f277abf487574d455d67341
-
m-relay
<endor00:matrix.org> On line 60 it calculates the estimate of the power (in watts) consumed by the network
-
m-relay
<endor00:matrix.org> You might have to look for a different node to fetch the data though, since the supportxmr node is not available anymore afaik
-
m-relay
<endor00:matrix.org> Note that the estimate is inversely proportional to the electricity cost you set on line 50. I picked 0.10 $/kWh as a "reasonable guesstimate"
-
m-relay
<endor00:matrix.org> Oh, you should probably comment out line 60 and uncomment line 61 instead - same result, but the formula is more direct and easy to understand
-
